Stringin' you along.

This is how I'm feeling today.
Wish I could tell you why,
but I can't!

But I can tell you tomorrow.
How's that?

Yes I know.
I'm "stringing" you along.
*pun intended*

Breakin' up is hard to do.

Princess is 16.
She and her boyfriend have
been a couple for 11 months.

They have "broken up".
She is very sad.

Young love and heartbreak
often go hand in hand,
don't they?

Do you remember
your first heartbreak?
I remember mine.

His name was Robert.
He broke my heart.
Thankfully, a 14 yr old's heart
mends completely
with a little time.

What do you remember
about your first heartbreak?

Gratitude.

Mom and Me
September 7, 2011

Mister had a business meeting in
Tulsa and I tagged along.
I got to spend the entire afternoon
with my Mom.

When I think about my life
I realize my Mom
has been my greatest
Teacher.

"I am overwhelmed with gratitude."
Just sayin. . .

The "Big D"

I told Mister to be sure to come home
with a bottle of  "Big D"

as today is my
semi-annual shaving day.

"Good News Friday!"

"GOOD NEWS FRIDAY!"

Think back over your week
and share a bit of
good news
from your world.

Good News make everyone smile!
Nothing is too big or so small
that it can't be celebrated here!

Your comments ROCK!!

Look what I found!!

It's my lucky day!
OK, this isn't exactly what I found,
but what I did find was a
treasure, nonetheless.

Don't you just LOVE this?!!

It measures 17"X 33".
You can be sure it will find a new home
as I work on the redo
of our bedroom.
Be still my heart!

It's none of my business so I had to ask. . .

"What's your current obsession?"
Sometimes I can't rest till I see a certain TV
program or movie.

Sometimes I'm into baking.

At other times I'm looking
everywhere for a new lipstick
that is longer wearing.

What are you obsessing
over at the moment?
(this is a totally non-judgemental blog)

And that little piggy went to the movie. . .

Spoiler Alert: This post is a bit of a rant.
Each of us should be entitled to an
occasional rant, don't you think?!

Mister and I went to see a movie.

The movie drew a somewhat older crowd . . .
not one single child in the mix.

As we left the theater we saw we had
been among pigs.
Popcorn was strewn everywhere
and drink cups and trash
were left at the seats;
the theater was basically left a
MESS.

It's hard not to be judgemental.
We find it surprising that adults find it
acceptable to throw food on the floor.
Just sayin. . .

I'm wondering if this is the case
in most areas,
or is it just in our locale?

yes.yes.YES!!

I found this on Pinterest
and thought of YOU (and ME).

I think I will frame this as a gift to Mister.
Good, huh?

And, I could have it put on a tee shirt
to give to him for Christmas.
He'd love it, don'cha think?!

And if I'm real clever
 I can work
this into a Bingo Game
which we can play
at every holiday party
we attend.

Sometimes I just amaze myself!

* * * * * * * * * * * * *
And now. . .
what you've all been waiting for -
(of course I'm kidding!)

My "do".
I posted this just because you asked
me to.  Trust me, there is no
vanity in this as I don't enjoy
looking at my own photos.

If she had bangs
we'd look like twins.
Totally!!

I.Am.A.Police.Magnet.

Yes.  Today I had yet another
brush with the law,
almost a month exactly since my
I have now declared myself
a "police magnet", of sort.

I was dressed in my painting garb,
with newspapers spread
all over the kitchen floor,
as I painted my ORANGE
table.  (more about that later)

There was a knock at the door.
Princess peeked out the front window
and said, "It's the Cops".

REALLY??

I opened the door just a tiny bit,
to keep our dog from escaping.

It seems there had been a
"911 hang-up"
from our home.

(Now I will admit to having
a few hang-ups,
but I sure didn't call anyone
to talk about 'em.)

He asked if all was OK.  It was.
Then he explained that he was
required to make a "walk-thru"
of the house to be sure there wasn't
a hostage situation.

I let him in and together
we (me, Princess, dog, and policeman)
trapsed through the house, room to room.
If I'd known he was coming I would
have put on a bra.
Really.  I would have.
Can you say,
"thin, white, paint-spattered, tee shirt"
3 times?!

He sumised (is that a word?)
the call had been a false alarm
that "just happens sometimes".

The "back up car" pulled up
in front of the house
as he was walking out the
front door.

Let it be noted that Princess
tried to convince him that she was
being held hostage as a homeschool
student - but he didn't buy her story.

* * * * * * * * * *
Now about my ORANGE
table painting project -
that's a story for yet
another day.

* * * * * * * * * *

I will also try to get a photo of my
haircut, but really it's pretty much
like my profile photo.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes!!

"The key to change... is to let go of fear."
   ~Roseanne Cash

Nothing stays the same forever -
(with just a few exceptions.)

"Change happens",
and it's getting ready
to happen here.
I have been looking at my home
through different eyes lately.
And I have the desire to make
lots of changes within our home.

Funny how a person can just wake up
one morning and realize
their taste has changed.
I wonder if this is normal.
Have you ever done this?

I am fortunate to be married to this guy.
He rolls with the changes
and puts up with all
my ideas.

I have recently discovered a love
for all things
chicken wire.
"Baskets, and Cabinets, and Frames.
Oh my!"

Painted furniture.
LOVE this too!

I just bought this
and I'm not afraid to use it.

I'll have something very colorful
to show you soon!

YIPEE!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Note:  in regards to yesterdays post -

the haircut was "close enough" that I
consider it a success!
Now,
if I was 30 yrs younger,
30 lbs lighter,
had perkier boobs
and highlights
I'd be looking a lot like this photo.
Sometimes reality really sucks,
but a good haircut is always
a "good thing".

TODAY.

I'm going to a new beauty salon TODAY.
Yes.
I'm nervous.

This is what I am going to look like
after my new haircut.

Mister is sure gonna be happy!

RATS!!

I'm linking with some great friends
to ride the Tuesday Train.
"All Aboard!"

RATS!!

I left my car parked at the shopping center
while I went shopping with a friend.
(she drove)

WHEN I RETURNED

My windshield had cracked in the heat of the day.
The car thermometer read *109 (again).
Do you see the crack?

Red Letter Day!

Last Friday, August 26, 2011
was a red letter day for me.
I gained my 200th
FOLLOWER/FRIEND
on this day!!

It did not go unnoticed!

Sincerely, THANK YOU
to each of you who "do life"
with me through my Blog.
I love your comments
and your Blogs.
I count it great joy to be acquainted
with you - something that in most
cases would not be possible
without Blogging.

We are blessed to live in these
"techy times"!

Hello Mudda. Hello Fadda.

I received the following photo and
text to my iphone last week.
(Our youngest son was on a
backpacking adventure vacation
in Costa Rica.)

Mom-
"This is where I'm staying in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica
for $8 a night."

* * * * * * * *
Do you know what this is?
It is a photo of an outdoor, open-air hostel
where you can sleep in a hammock
for $8 a night.

I am happy to report that son is
now safely at home in Atlanta,
where hopefully he is sleeping
indoors, with doors locked.

*sigh of relief*

Crap Shoot!

I have the urge to do some redecorating.
When I decorate it's like rolling the dice -
sometimes I'm lucky and it turns out nicely,
sometimes I totally miss.
It's a crap shoot.

"Oh-how-I-envy-you
Decorating Dynamos
who pen the beautiful home decorating blogs"!

The Master bedroom is my victim project.
  1. Bedroom Suite - Oak, 10 yrs old, (pd a lot for it so it must stay)
  2. Adjoining master bath - "beigy" wall paper, very neutral, non obtrusive pattern
With those facts in mind I am gonna try to marry Shabby Chic with a bit of updated country.  I'm hoping to end up with something that looks comfortable & cozy without looking like the "old" country that was such a trend 15/20 yrs ago.
I've ordered this from Overstock.com.
I felt I needed to stay in the "beige" tones
so it will flow with the adjoining bathroom.
Since we live in the south a quilt is a good
weight for the entire year.

This is gonna be a BIG job.
I'll have to paint the bedroom before
moving on to the decorating part.

I've gathered some great ideas from Blogs
and from Pinterest,
but I'll have to see if I can
implement them.
To decorate, I'm gonna pull the "cinnamon" color
from the quilt, and even use a
tiny bit of the "blue" - I'm not a "blue"
girl but I think I could handle
a little in the mix.

If I show you photos later it will mean
I am pleased with the roll of the dice -

If not. . .
there will be no photos
and I'll just have to leave the bedroom door
SHUT!

BOOM!

It's been one of those days.
There are a few things (just a few)
that even I won't blog about.
I've had one of those days.

Please drop by tomorrow.
I PROMISE
I will be wearing my
Happy Face by then.

"Google" Giggle

I'm jumping on board the Tuesday Train.
This is a first for me.
Whee!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I need to have my hair cut.
I've been trying to get in touch with my beautician, but since she works from her home, sometimes she is hard to reach.  In the meantime I've been looking at some new "do's".  I ran a search, "hairstyles for older women".  And guess whose photo popped up?

JENNIFER ANNISTON.

and

REESE WITHERSPOON

"Older women", huh?
ROFLMBO!!

Honey, it's all a matter of perspective.
