Crazy Stupid Love, movie review

"Crazy Stupid Love".
I bet this movie will surprise you;
It surprised me.

What I expected was a flaky, chick-flick,
about a hokey Dad

trying to reinvent himself as a
"hot dude" in order to re-enter
the dating scene.

Yes.
You do get that.
But the surprise is that you get
so much more.

"What's clear in the movie is how powerful and emotionally draining [divorce can be].
"It's a huge loss and I think people tend to, I don't know if trivialise is the right word, but I think they under-appreciate the enormity of the effect a divorce can have on people."
He added: "Some of my friends have gone through divorce after many, many years of marriage, so several elements of the movie ring true to me.
"Certainly, getting back into the dating game is a very frightening and daunting element [of the film] that is rooted in reality. I had a friend who, after 25 years of marriage, found himself trying to date again, and it was completely different."

This movie had far more plot than I had
anticipated.  It was funny AND
thought-provoking which made
for a great movie.
Well worth the ticket price, IMO.

Note: PG 13
Just a few bad words.
I will allow my 16 yr old  to see it.

Cluck. Cluck. Cluck

I love me a good Chick Flick!

In your opinion,
what makes for a good Chick Flick?
One that makes you cry?
One that makes you laugh?
One that makes you laugh and cry?
One that celebrates friendship?
A crazy love story?
One with a great soundtrack?
Hot clothes &
 shoes?
A Handsome leading man?
All of the above?

AND

What's your favorite
Chick Flick?

I'll share my answer to get us started.

Hope Floats is my very favorite Chick Flick.
Poor Sandra Bullock finds herself humiliated
on national TV by her philandering, scum-bucket
husband, then, through a series of events she
meets up with "Justin", played by Harry Connick Jr. Just the thought of him in that starched shirt
and wearing that cowboy hat absolutely
turns me to blubber.
I could watch this again and again,
and again.

Now it's your turn!

Sometimes Art imitates life,

But then again,
sometimes life imitates Art,
which was the case when
we visited a local museum
last week while oldest son
was here visiting.

Son (the one to the left of your screen)
imitates Pig (right of your screen).

I (right of screen) imitate
skinny goddess (left of screen).

Princess (left of screen) and her BFF (right of screen)
terrorize sculptured small children (mid screen).

Princess and I thought we resembled
the Mother & Child in this painting.
Yes.
We both have a vivid imagination.

"Gator riding."
Princess has not yet declared a future career path
so this is still a possible option.

For some unknown reason Princess and BFF
thought this was hysterically funny.

"Planking"
This is new to me.
I'm still asking, "What is this?",
and "Why?".

is a Shreveport treasure.
It is open to the public and free.
(Can you believe something is actually FREE?)
We had a fun time roaming the halls
and taking in the beautiful art which
simply goes to prove that it is possible
to have a wonderful afternoon in a museum
even if you have very little actual knowledge
about fine art.

And for the record,
even with all this nonsense,
we were NOT asked to leave.

It don't come easy, baby.

This Banana Bread in the kitchen
keeps calling to me.
"Come! What's one more pound?"

Wearing a bra on a hot day.
And IF one were to wear a padded bra,
I bet it would be really hot.

A dental visit scores a "0"
on the Fun Scale.
(I think this guy looks like Matt Lauer.)

I will not scratch.
I will not scratch.
Darn mosquitos!

I want to like this.
I think I will like this.
But I can't seem to really "get it".(It's sort of like watching people
get ready for a party you're not invited to.)

Lots to do today.
Which of these things do you think
are on my "Gett'er Done List"?

7 Things about Moi'

7 Things about Moi'

1.  I can make "Slap Yo MaMa Chicken Fried Steak".
My husband always asks for it for his b-day
and when our youngest son visits he ALWAYS
has me make it, even if it's for Christmas Dinner.

2.  I'm a Germaphoeb.
I admit it.  I accept it.
You'll just have to love me in spite of myself.

3.  I'm a late bloomer.  Always have been.

4.  A favorite "thang" - clean, soft, 100%
cotton pj's; a fresh pair every night.

5.  Hate to travel - but love to see & enjoy
new places.  (It makes sense to me.)

6.  I'm a Fainter. (it's a needle "thang")
I have fainted in elevators, on sidewalks,
in public restrooms, at school, etc.

7.  Isaiah 40:31,  my favorite scripture
But they that wait upon the LORD shall
renew their strength; they shall mount up with
    wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk, and not faint.

Thank you to my wonderful, somewhat new friends,  Just Stuff From a Boomer and This Gioia's Chronicles.

Life in the random Lane. ZOOM!

Thank you for all the comments yesterday!
I have the smartest blog friends - for sure.
You told me about a great website for
recipes. . .And, I had no idea that
Taco Bell made a meatless taco!
Wonderful suggestions for some meatless
meals too.

* * * * * * *  *

I've been sitting in front of the mirror practicing
my meanest teacher look.
I homeschool Princess.
School begins on Aug 8.
I think I've just about got "the look"right.  Doncha' think?

* * * * * * * * * * * *

I told you earlier in the week that Princess
was at camp this week.  This means that
I am Boudxy"s (her beloved pooch)
Caregiver.
Being the good caregiver that I am
I took Boudxy for his usual walk yesterday.
We had only been home from the walk
about 20 min when I noticed one of his
eyes was swelling.  Ten minutes passed
and his eye had turned red and was
almost completely swollen shut.
YIKES!!
We think he may have gotten
into some fire ants or been stung by
a wasp or bee.

I gave him some Benedryl and put some
allergy eye drops in his eye. (the drops
were for a dog we used to own).
Happy Ending - the eye was back
to normal this morning.  WHEW!

Perhaps from now on you might
want to refer to me as
"SWEET TEA the VET".  K?
I kinda like that.

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

I'm off now to color my hair
and get rid of all the gray.
"I use Preference,
because I'm worth it".

Do you color your hair?
What Brand/color do you use?

* * * * * * * * * * * *
Perhaps I should be called
"Ms. SWEET TEA, VET & HAIR COLORIST"!
What do you think?

Do you FACEBOOK?
Most of my "real life" (?) friends
do not.
I'd sure like to connect with
some of YOU on FB.
If you're interested please mention
this in your comment
and we can trade info
through email.
Interested?

Ideas?

Our oldest son is coming to visit for a few days.
YEAY!!
And the only issue is,
He "no eat no meat".
(do you recognize that from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"?)
He's a Vegetarian.
He is not Vegan, so that gives me
a few more options.

Isn't this a beautiful salad?
Can't get much simpler than this.
(not my creation)
BUT,
I can't feed him this every meal.

Got any ideas for something I can prepare
that doesn't revolve around pasta?
Seems like I feed him the
same ol' same ol'
each time he's here.

I'd love some ideas,
the simpler the better!

(is "simpler" even a word?)

Bye. Bye.

Look who's gonna really be  lonely
this week.

Princess leaves for camp today.
It will be quiet with her gone.
Quiet isn't always a bad thing. *smile
I've plenty to keep me busy.

"To Do List"
Eat bon-bons.
Iron my shoelaces.
Read the junk mail.
Learn how to operate the Ti-Vo.
Count the ice cubes in the ice maker bin.

If this is a dream
"don't you dare wake me up!".

What's on your
"To Do List"
for today?

Think back over the past week

Let's HEAR your

It's none of my business but I have to ask. . .

Your answers to this weekly
random question always
amaze and amuse me.
Thanks for participating!

Once again -
"It's none of my business
but I have to ask . . ."

disclaimer:  I have 2 sons and 2 daughters
so I have no bias on this issue.

Recently I went into a public women's restroom.
Inside was a mom with her son,
(he was at least 5'1").
They each went into separate stalls and politely
took care of "business",
came out, washed their hands,
and left.
There were women in the restroom
as well as young girls.

Here's the question(s):

At what age does a male child become too
old to be brought into the women's
restroom with his Mom?

What does a Mom do if she feels
uncomfortable allowing her son to go
into a public men's restroom?

I have the need to "share"

Did you know we have an older daughter?
I blog about our youngest daughter, Princess,
a lot because at 16 she still lives
at home and is very present in my day-to-day life.
However,we also have a red-haired
beauty of a daughter who lives in Oklahoma,
is married to Brent,
and is Mom to our 3 Granddolls.
(and yes, we talk via phone
almost every single day)

Some of you know her as Momof3girls.
She has a fun (and insightful) Blog,
You'll want to stop by her Blog
to say Hello and I bet you'll want
to FOLLOW her,
BUT
you've got to promise to come
back and see me too,

"I'm very insecure".
