I received the following photo and
text to my iphone last week.
(Our youngest son was on a
backpacking adventure vacation
in Costa Rica.)
Mom-
"This is where I'm staying in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica
for $8 a night."
* * * * * * * *
Do you know what this is?
It is a photo of an outdoor, open-air hostel
where you can sleep in a hammock
for $8 a night.

I am happy to report that son is
now safely at home in Atlanta,
where hopefully he is sleeping
indoors, with doors locked.

Aren't our kids the funniest people? He could have at least shown you this photo AFTER the experience!
Too funny...my third son went backpacking around Europe and stayed in many a youth hostel. They survive and have great stories. I'm glad I hear them after the fact!
Hugs..
I think our kids enjoy adding to our (my) grey hair. :o)
Oh boy - glad he is back in Atlanta! Our kids never stop doing things to worry us it seems!
Sounds like a great place to stay! I bet he has some stories to tell.
sigh of relief?? Yeah, no kidding!!! Glad he made it home safe!!
Those are the things you do when you're young and think nothing bad can ever happen to you! Glad he made it home safe!
Wow, that looks like something I will definitely not ever be doing, mind you I suppose you only sleep in the bed when you go to a hotel and pay as though you were buying the room, must have been fun
LOL that is an hilarious post and the funny thing is if you had taken him to that very place as a family he would have thought it was horrible.
thanks for the smiles
Madi and Mom
I love how their adventures keep us up at night! I agree with Calamity Jr, he should have shared after he got home, but what fun would that be, right?
So happy he made it home safely! Not sure I'd want to know where he was sleeping until after he got home! LOL
Have a great week!
Blessings,
Jill
We do the most horrendous things when we're young, don't we? Ahh, but the adventure of it all, and the memories he'll have.
I have stayed in youth hostels and elder hostels before...but never one like that. I am glad he made it home safe and sound.
Just read this, and we had 4 exchange kids in the 80's come stay with us from Costa Rica. We keep in contact with 2, and they want us to come visit them so badly. Wish I could talk the hubby into doing that.
Thanks, but no thanks! Wonder if I could throw a few tents in the back yard and charge $8 a night? Hmmmm.....
Ha Ha! Kids! They give us gray hair!
