SWEET TEA @ the Tea room

Here we are at the Glenwood Tea Room.
The tablecloth's are small, delicate quilts.
And there are many flavors of tea to choose from;
they each come either hot or cold,
whichever is your pleasure.
"Cold Apricot Sweet Tea" was our choice.
MMMmmmm.  Good.  Refreshing.

Look at the pretty Tea Cup and Saucer.
Nothing matches, but somehow
it all "works".

Princess drank the fancy "SWEET TEA"

as I perused the menu looking for
exactly what I wanted to eat -
Victorian Soup and the Sample Plate of Sandwiches.
"Thank you very much!"

So many "pretties" to see.
I never grow tired of
small, weathered tables.

This Faux window reminded me of looking
out a window at Grandmothers house.

Victorian Soup is in the cup.
It is a creamed soup made of all sorts of
spring veggies which I would probably not like
until they are blended and mixed with rich cream.
 IT.IS.MAGIC.
Tiny little finger sandwiches
make us feel like ladies.

It was *109 degrees

"Paws for Reading"

"Paws for Reading"

Is this the cutest thing ever?
This is new to me.
Who would have thought that children
would be fascinated by this?
Someone a whole lot smarter than me,
that's who!

Please take a moment to read about it  HERE
This is amazing!

Our 8 yr old  Granddoll participated
in the program through the summer
library reading program where she lives.
There was a waiting list
for children wanting to participate!

Aren't you glad God made
dogs (and cats)?

They give us such pleasure.

Good Enough.

We homeschool.
Our first day of 11th grade classes
will begin next Monday, 8/8.

Princess does not like to read.
I've tried all sorts of things to
garner an interest in books,
but it has simply not happened.

Princess had only one "must read" book
over the Summer, "Christy",
by Catherine Marshall.
I thought this would perhaps be
a book she would enjoy.
Yesterday she finished the book.
"So, how did you like the book",
I asked her?

Being one with great talent, she answered,
"OK.. . .BUT,

I don't want to name my daughter 'Ruby Mae'.
I don't want to name my kid  'Birdseye'.
I don't want to move to the mountains
   and teach dirty children.
I don't want to catch Pnemonia.
I don't want to get Typhoid.
I don't want to be anemic.
I don't want to be shot.
I don't want to be raped by a minister
and have a kid.
I don't want to become a Quaker.  Ever."

*sigh*
"At least she read the book!"
There are times you simply
have to be satisfied
with "good enough".

Sometimes Art imitates life,

But then again,
sometimes life imitates Art,
which was the case when
we visited a local museum
last week while oldest son
was here visiting.

Son (the one to the left of your screen)
imitates Pig (right of your screen).

I (right of screen) imitate
skinny goddess (left of screen).

Princess (left of screen) and her BFF (right of screen)
terrorize sculptured small children (mid screen).

Princess and I thought we resembled
the Mother & Child in this painting.
Yes.
We both have a vivid imagination.

"Gator riding."
Princess has not yet declared a future career path
so this is still a possible option.

For some unknown reason Princess and BFF
thought this was hysterically funny.

"Planking"
This is new to me.
I'm still asking, "What is this?",
and "Why?".

is a Shreveport treasure.
It is open to the public and free.
(Can you believe something is actually FREE?)
We had a fun time roaming the halls
and taking in the beautiful art which
simply goes to prove that it is possible
to have a wonderful afternoon in a museum
even if you have very little actual knowledge
about fine art.

And for the record,
even with all this nonsense,
we were NOT asked to leave.

Ideas?

Our oldest son is coming to visit for a few days.
YEAY!!
And the only issue is,
He "no eat no meat".
(do you recognize that from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"?)
He's a Vegetarian.
He is not Vegan, so that gives me
a few more options.

Isn't this a beautiful salad?
Can't get much simpler than this.
(not my creation)
BUT,
I can't feed him this every meal.

Got any ideas for something I can prepare
that doesn't revolve around pasta?
Seems like I feed him the
same ol' same ol'
each time he's here.

I'd love some ideas,
the simpler the better!

(is "simpler" even a word?)

Bye. Bye.

Look who's gonna really be  lonely
this week.

Princess leaves for camp today.
It will be quiet with her gone.
Quiet isn't always a bad thing. *smile
I've plenty to keep me busy.

"To Do List"
Eat bon-bons.
Iron my shoelaces.
Read the junk mail.
Learn how to operate the Ti-Vo.
Count the ice cubes in the ice maker bin.

If this is a dream
"don't you dare wake me up!".

What's on your
"To Do List"
for today?

I have the need to "share"

Did you know we have an older daughter?
I blog about our youngest daughter, Princess,
a lot because at 16 she still lives
at home and is very present in my day-to-day life.
However,we also have a red-haired
beauty of a daughter who lives in Oklahoma,
is married to Brent,
and is Mom to our 3 Granddolls.
(and yes, we talk via phone
almost every single day)

Some of you know her as Momof3girls.
She has a fun (and insightful) Blog,
You'll want to stop by her Blog
to say Hello and I bet you'll want
to FOLLOW her,
BUT
you've got to promise to come
back and see me too,

"I'm very insecure".

Gettin' our "party on"!

We brought the Granddolls home with us
when we left Tulsa on Tues (7/5).

Since then we have had our "party on"pretty much 24/7.
Such Fun!!

We went to a pottery shop and painted pottery.

We raced Go Karts.

We made S'mores.

We ate S'mores.

We posed for some photos.

Oldest Granddoll.

Middle Granddoll.

Youngest Granddoll.

Princess, our youngest daughter.

We did some shopping.
"Some girls are simply made for red heels!".

We swam.

We went to see the movie
"Monte Carlo".
(Oops!  I missed a photo op.)

We had Game Night.

After watching "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"
we went out for Greek Food.
They loved knowing there is Greek in our heritage.

And, yes, we bowled a bit too.

Then all too soon Sunday arrived
and we had to give them backto their parents.

I look forward to this time they spend with us
each summer.  I have such warm memories
of time spent with my Grandmother.
I hope this memories will last them a lifetime
just as my memories have.

O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A. Oklahoma!!

So thankful we got to spend the 4th of July
with our family in Oklahoma.
Here's a peek into our day.

Fresh from the Garden

Favorite SIL did a great job
on the burgers.

Loved seeing oldest Granddoll
at her Mom's side in the kitchen.

Is this a fresh-scrubed American
face or what?

We tatooed our entire bunch
in the deco of the day,
even YoYo!

Middle Granddoll with her
favorite symbol,
the Peace Sign.

Princess was allowed to bring her
boyfriend with us for the celebration.

"I love U?"
It was intended to say
"I love USA".
Hey now. . .

These were a BIG hit!
(After these were grilled we squeezed
the banana goo over ice cream.  Mmmm!)

Then like families all across our great country
we gathered to watch the sky light up
with the red, white & blue.

*And for the record,
our oldest son was with us but somehow
managed to evade the camera.
Hmmm.  How did I let that happen?

I bet our 4th looked much like yours.
Am I right?
