SWEET TEA

I've NEVER done this before!

Oddly enough no Christmas carols are rotating in my head, but rather I'm thinking about the "Noble Duke of York", you know, the one with 10,000 men.  Fast forward to the chorus.

"When you're up you're up,
and when you're down you're down.
But, when you're only half way up
you're neither up nor down."

We dragged a few Christmas items from the attic.
(each year I bring down fewer & fewer)

What a mess we make until it's all unpacked
and put into place.

Right now we're "Neither up nor down"!

However, the Nutcrackers are in place and keeping watch over the process.

I.HAVE.NEVER.PUT.CHRISTMAS.THINGS.
OUT.BEFORE. DECEMBER.1.
Mister & Lil' Mama share the same birthday, Nov. 30 and I've always made it a rule to celebrate their birthdays before we jump into the Christmas season; however this year, since Mom will be coming back here on Thanksgiving, I know I'll need every minute between Thanksgiving and Christmas to assist her with her Christmas shopping.  It'll be a big help to have Christmas already in place when we return home after being in Tulsa for Thanksgiving.  So, out with the old timing and in with the new.  I haven't been Christmas shopping with my Mom in many years.
It will be fun!
(And, not to worry, we'll still find time to celebrate the birthdays)

Haylee Kate turned 8 months old a few days ago.  She was not as cooperative about the monthly photo shoot as she has been in times past.  This is how it went down.

When do you put up your Christmas decorations?
Any particular reason for choosing that time?

We try to put up our Christmas things the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but that always depends on if I'm working that day.
Haylee Kate is cute as can be!

Thank you for this post...it made me laugh about the neither up or down thing. The old I get the less I decorate. I really hate that about me...because when I was young and longed for things to decorate with, I had none. I should rejoice every day. The baby is so cute even when she couldn't sit still.:):) blssings, hug your mom for me, I sure do miss mine. xoxo,Susie

Noooooooooo........the thought of dragging all that stuff out makes me crazy and I'm pretty crazy already!! I will out Christmas our when my husband makes me!

Precious pictures! She wanted to eat the sign.....she is just too cute for words and I can't believe she's 8 months old!

Haylee's pics are wonderful and they made me laugh too! The last one must be the "keeper"! I usually put Christmas up the day after Thanksgiving or atleast by Dec.1st. The older I get the less enthused I am about it...which is horrible! I just looked at my schedule for Thanksgiving week and it's jammed full..so I might be bringing out the decorations a bit early too!

We sang it as "The Grand Old Duke of York..." and bounced our kids on our knees as we did!

I'm not sure about the deco this year as we will be gone the whole holiday to some place warm and fantastic.

As to your question on my blog (thanks for stopping by), I've been riding for years, but have gotten serious (ha ha) about it in the last 3 or 4. I wish I could say I am in great shape, but I guess better than if I didn't ride!

I usually put Christmas decorations up the 1st or 2nd week in December, a few days before my grandkids come over to decorate my tree. I don't mind putting them up but taking them down is a pain.
Haylee Kate's 8 month pictures are precious...sometimes the best pics come about when they are just being themselves.

Recently I have put up Christmas in other rooms, but never the "main" tree. This year however, I'm hosting Lillian's first birthday and I really need to have Christmas up before I have guests over! - so for the first time, I have the main tree up with an autumn banner still on the mantel!
Blessings,
Ava
I really think it is okay to put Christmas up early - 'cause I'm really thankful for Christmas!!

I think you will have a wonderful Christmas this time with your mother.

We will put up on the middle of December.

We are always at the beach for Thanksgiving so we don't return home till early December. Once home I hurry and clean and then get the decorations out. Like you I put out fewer with each year - it's a lot of work.

we celebrate the holidays each day, not just on thanksgiving and Christmas, Hanukkah falls the evening of thanksgiving two holidays in one day, whew, so much hunger here, I am cooking, basting, roasting for a week of sundays before the real turkey day.Turkey day we go to a neat movie and then we go to the beach for fri.sat,& sunday, we don't do anything for Christmas although I do have tons of holiday stuff. after our only left home to find her calling after college we stopped doing any holidays and helped the poor which is huge in this whole county, they are hungry, tired and cold most of the year..ciao

Your mess looks much neater than my mess. We always put the decorations up the day after Thanksgiving before we retired from our jobs. Now it's whenever our son can come help get the boxes out of the attic. He has so much on his plate right now, Nonnie may have to crawl up in the attic and toss boxes down to Grandpa and just go with whatever I can lift!
HK is so adorable and I love the pic of her in the leaves. That is just so sweet. I think the blue bow and the outfit are perfect!

Well, you do what works, when it works. Great idea in getting a head start on the decorating. Haylee Kate just keeps getting more adorable with each day! I know you are loving every minute with her!

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Hugs~

It's really easy for me-- I decorate with my friends at THEIR house. So whenever it works for them it works for me. I love it. And, I even help take the stuff down and pack it up for next year. We have a blast.

And you-- Have a blast shopping with your mom and Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

It's Thanksgiving Day, and our family eats an early dinner instead of lunch. Just now there is a lull between the hectic preparations and all the guests arriving for the meal. I wanted to take some of that time to visit my blogging friends. I needed to say thank you. Thank you for the inspiration you provide here in your place and for the comments you leave behind when you visit mine. Happy Thanksgiving, friend.
