Gonna miss you, GF!

It doesn't matter how old we are
it always hurts when a friend
leaves, whatever the
reason may be.

So it is for me.
I am soon to "lose" a very good
friend...Oh, there is always the
hope that there will be a way to
"keep in touch", but we all know
"long-distance friending" is a difficult thing
to pull off.

I wonder how my days will unfold
without the pleasure of her company.
I see her e-v-e-r-y  d-a-y.
That is gonna change.

My husband does not understand.
He says I am making too much of this.
Sometimes men simply don't
"get it".  And I tell him so.

It's very hard to replace a friendship
that has lasted 10 years.   *sniff

Weebles wobble but . . .

This sweet child is 38 years old today!
How can that be?

This is the toddler that was entralled
by the flushing mechanism of a toilet.
He flushed books, toys, his sister's lipgloss
(and basically anything that wasn't nailed down).
Yes.  It became a real problem.

We scolded.
We threatened.
We placed locks on the bathroom door, etc. etc.
Still the flushing continued.

One evening said child managed to flush
3 Weebles down the toilet.
(Does anyone remember,
"Weebles wobble
but they don't fall down"?)

Young, tired Mom that I was,
I said, "Just wait till your Daddy
gets home. . .".

To my surprise he dropped to his
knees and began one of the most
serious, solemn prayers I have
ever heard, asking God to please
unplug the toilet
before his Daddy
came home.

To my amazement the toilet began
to bubble and up they came.
Gurgle.  Gurgle.  Plop.
One Weeble.
Then two Weebles.
Then three Weebles.

Never doubt that children
have God's ear; A child's prayer
is a powerful thing.

Happy Birthday Greg!

Mom's Song

When I was a little girl my Mom always washed
my hair in the bathroom sink.
I hated the process of getting water
(and sometimes soap) in my face.
Mom used to sing me a song
which calmed me.

Then, when I had children
I would often wash their hair
in the sink.
Guess what I did to calm them?

Yes.
I sang the same song.
Click  *HERE*
to hear the song.

Great memory!

Do you have any particular song
that reminds you of "Mom"?

Dirty little secrets

You know we all have one
(or a few).

When it first happened
I felt like this.

Then like this.

I found this while shopping
when we visited our
son last week.
For $12.99  it became mine.

I wrapped it in LOTS of tissue paper
and placed it in a sack
and held it as we drove
from Georgia to Louisiana.

Then it happened -
I dropped the lid as I was
placing my "find" onto the mantle.

Boo Hoo!

Shhhhh!
Now here's the secret -

If I place the lid
"just so"
(facing the back)

it looks PERFECT
and no one would ever know
if we don't tell them.

I'm a ROCK STAR, baby!

"My husband think's I'm a rock star in the kitchen!".
Yep, his very own Rachel Ray.
His Julia Childs in flip-flops.
His Galloping Gourmet minus the energy. . .
OK, you get it.

When he was oh-so-sick last month
I made him homemade Chicken Soup.
He.Loved.It.
He keeps requesting it.
YES!! ( fists raised and pounding overhead)

It is a total Slacker Cook recipe
that I'm compelled to share with
others who share a common cooking
matra -
"Cook it quick and get outta the kitchen!".

Here it is:
(This will easily feed a family of  5)

Rice a Roni Pilaf,
1 Family Size Box

AND

2 Chicken Breasts,
COOKED & diced.
(great use for left-overs)

AND

Swanson Chicken Broth,
2 boxes

Directions:
1.  Cook the Rice a Roni per box directions.
2.  Add the cooked chicken.
3.  Pour Chicken Broth over it all
4.  Season well with lots of salt and pepper.

Wah Lah!
You're a Rock Star!!

Note: The salt and pepper make
           this soup zing -
           "more is better".

I.Was.There.

I.WAS.THERE.
I saw this happen!

Well,
not exactly.

But we did spring crawl out of bed
at 3:30 am
for our "Royal Viewing Party".
There were TWO of us in attendance.

Let the party begin . . .

Our resident Princess was in attendance
wearing her crown, and snubbing the camera.
(Royalty folks have such an attitude.)

Being the Queen, I had to don my sunglasses
to shield myself from the Paparazzi
and the reflection from my crown.
(tis the price one pays for being "royal")

Princess footwear.

Queenly footwear.

*OBVIOUSLY*
the Queen and the Princess
need some sun on their
royal legs.

A toast of the bubbly (grape juice)
to the newly wedded couple.
"Cheers!"
Then, albeit too quickly,
the party was over.
The Princess returned to her
Royal boudoir.
(Darn! I missed taking that photo.)
and the Queen
ruled, reigned, and remained
on her throne.

The End.
