SWEET TEA

I wish you could know her.

Yesterday was my Mom's 85th birthday.
It was a special day to celebrate and honor her, so we threw a Par-ty!

I love my Mom!
She is hands-down the absolute strongest woman I know.  Born at the very end of the Depression she has known what it's like to work hard and make sacrifices when need be.  She mowed her own lawn til she was 80 yr old and only stopped when we nagged persuaded her. . .She was my Brownie Leader, my Girl Scout Leader, and my Sunday School Teacher.  She led me to Jesus when I was a child, 8 yrs old.  She's been a loving Mother to me  and a doting Grandmother to my children.  She's read through the Bible over 50 times and sometimes, when it's quiet in the evening,  I can hear her praying in her room.  She's an amazing woman!

85! How wonderful. Sometimes it's hard to keep up with how much my parents need me now, but it's given me a chance to reminisce about how they cared for me, and also to get to know them as people instead of just "mom" or "dad." A big happy birthday to her!

What a precious tribute to your mom! My mom was the same way. She loved the Lord and people and I never came in when I didn't see her sitting at the dining room table reading her Bible. She had her own writings and her own commentary of how the Lord spoke to her through His Word. She memorized verses and could quote better than my preacher-man daddy. Treasure, treasure you moments with her. I miss mine so much!

My husbands grandmother also did her lawn until she was in her 80's. The mowing reminds me of a person I know who took a garden tool off her Mum because she is in her late 80's and it was a bit dangerous, her Mum out smarted her though and borrowed the next door neighbours!!! Louise

I love your mother, though I've never met her!

My grandfather died when I was 15. My most vivid memories of him are his sitting in the living room reading his Bible. He prayed..daily he prayed, and he could be heard throughout the house. Even this many years later, my family still reaps the benefit of his prayers.
