My "Happy Place".

It's no wonder green is my favorite color.
I know most people long to live by water, but not me. I'm a green girl, all the way.
Just yesterday the city was mowing the right-a-way alongside the highway and I caught the scent of freshly mowed grass.  Be still my heart!  Yankee Candle once had a scented candle, "Fresh Mowed Grass" (discontinued now) - I loved it!  When I feel the need to think about a "Happy Place" I picture myself on a large front porch swing overlooking a large span of green grass. I can hear birds singing and there is a bit of honeysuckle mixed with the grassy scent. There's just something about that setting that puts me at peace.

Everyone needs a "Happy Place" in their mind, don't you think?
You know, the place you think about when the stress gets to be too much; the place where your mind's eye settles when you need a break from the "here and now".

Tell me about your "Happy Place" - I'd love to hear.
You can leave a comment OR you can blog about it if you'd like, just be sure to let me know so I can drop by to read about it.  "Inquiring minds" and all the stuff. . .

I love the smell of fresh cut grass. It brings me back to my childhood, living on the farm when my Dad would cut hay - what a wonderful smell!

The ocean, of course. It's so large and encompassing, soothing and amazingly peaceful. I loved living by the water; it felt like I slept with safety at my back. I love rocky beaches and sand between my toes.

I love the smell of fresh mowed grass....it reminds me of all things summer. The mountains that I can see every day also make me happy.

Sitting in a beach chair under an umbrella listening to the waves crash on the shore! I may have to do a post on that!

you have a lovely happy place, mine is a cabin in the woods by the lake on a wicker settee lots of soft cushions and quilt, with a pile of books sitting beside me and a cup of tea,

Green has always been my favorite color, too. My husband just assumed it's because that's the color of money. ;) It's one of those "jokes" around here.

I'm enjoying island life right now, but when I think of where I'd want to settle down, it's a tiny farm somewhere with lots of green.

Is it OK to have more than one "Happy Place" to retreat too? At work they are always saying that I'm in my "happy place" or I'm in route to it! I think of the ocean, the warm sand and just sitting in the sun...or it's a house by a lake..or it's sitting in a screened-in porch on a comfy wicker sofa reading! Take your pick!

I think my happy place is like yours, but I'd like to include some water please, a lake or the sea! Evening light, tea and the kids screaming with laughter -- that would be just about perfect :) O! And maybe Paolo playing in the background haha.. fyi, he's a young Scottish lad -- I posted his music here too: http://bikbikroro.blogspot.sg/2013/01/go-ahead-and-say-it.html

Green all the way. A hammock surrounded by it, on the lake. My mind goes there when I need the escape. If I concentrate hard enough I can hear the water and smell the grass....

I love the smell of freshly mowed grass, too! AND honeysuckle! Or the scent of pine on a mountain breeze....or the smell of the ocean....

I'm so torn because I have a few. I love being in J's arms watching a lit fireplace or sitting by the ocean and watching the waves crash to the shore. I also love the smell of the mountains and the pine trees and beauty and sound of nature. Another favorite happy place is hearing the words, "I love you".

Inside I like my rocking chair. Outside I love my swing. A funny not so funny thing happened to me while I was dreaming (eyes open) on my swing. My mind was in the south, wind was blowing, birds were singing. I even had a glass of sweet tea. Thinking of the peace and God's treasures to us...when ..as if I were slapped in the face. A bird pooped on my head. I hope I never forget that. It was funny. Had to wash my hair and by the time I was clean I never went back to finish my time alone. Things moved on.

Love your happy place. I have two...Cades Cove in Tennessee and the beach in the fall....or right before a storm.

I love sitting on my porch swing too and enjoying the big old oak trees and birds singing. I will miss this but I am lucky to be moving with another big porch and swings.
In answer to your comment My move won't be until sometime in May. It will be a trial basis working for my boss now in a different city. Looking forward to a change but not sure yet if it will work out. haha
Happy Valentines Day

The smell of grass always reminds me of summer. Playing after dinner on the lawn. But my favorite happy place has to be the beach. Listening to the ocean waves roll in and back out relaxes me like no other. And I love that salty, briny ocean smell.

I rarely write responses, however i did some searching and wound up here "My "Happy Place".".
And I do have some questions for you if it's allright. Is it just me or does it give the impression like some of the comments come across like coming from brain dead folks? :-P And, if you are writing on additional places, I would like to follow everything new you have to post. Would you list of all of your shared pages like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?

I've tried it in two different browsers and both show the same results.

I'm not sure why but this web site is loading very slow for me. Is anyone else having this issue or is it a problem on my end? I'll check back later and see if the
problem still exists.

I was going to say I'm jealous thinking that was your front porch and swing. I love that picture and that would do me just fine. Somewhere to relax and unwind - beautiful! We don't have porches here so much so my nod to it is the adirondack chair in sea green that my husband bought me for my 50th birthday last year. I love it - even just looking at it makes me happy!

Have a lovely weekend!!
