SWEET TEA

Dear Summer. . .

Dear Summer,
Please slow down.
Why do you move so quickly
while winter moves so slowly?

If you could simply "pause" for
a bit and allow us to bask in the
light of your sunshine, just a little
longer, that would be great.

And would it be too much
to ask you for some extra days to
walk bare-footed?  You know how
I love that sweet luxury.

Oh - and the
smell of freshly mown grass and honeysuckle,
could they be allowed to linger too?

Summer,
you are my very favorite season.
I adore you!

I'll miss you when you're gone.
Please promise to come again
once the days have grown short
and the earth has chilled.

I'll be waiting.
~Sweet Tea

Oh, Sweet Tea! You make it sound so romantic, when in from my point-of-view, it's just a sweaty, bug-infested season. Bring me some autumn and the change of colors with cool breezes. Bring on winter, with her brisk chill that encourages reading by the fireplace, hot chocolate and the laughter of children as they sled. Love that! I guess it would be boring if we all loved the same season. I do have to admit, honeysuckle and going barefoot are things to celebrate!

I love summer too and it really does fly by way to quickly! Loved this post!

I love your post - and I love summer - but it is not my favorite - I am excited for fall! Funny how we all have our favorites.

Love,

I love summer also for many reasons, not the least of which is not having to put on a coat, hat, gloves and boots just to go out to walk the dog.

I love going barefoot, too, but am looking forward to autumn. I just hope fall doesn't go by too quickly.

I too love Summer but I must admit,I have come to love and enjoy the various seasons in their own way...something unexpected of me.

Also, overtime I have grown to have a hard time with 90 degree weather. 80's tend to be more barable.

I agree though, what a beautiful tribute to a lovely season. I wish I could go barefoot. My feet are too sensitive but I do love my flip-flops!!

Yes I do believe Summer had her final fling a few weeks ago...the rains have come and the temps are cooler. Mom is now recording each day she sees a hummer.....last year we saw them up until Oct. 5.

I'm with the others ... A lovely tribute to summer. Very pleasant memories of barefootin' through the summers past.

But it is with relief I say good-bye to this past Texas summer with its record breaking temperatures and the drought. I'm enjoying the 80's and 90's right now, and looking forward to some cooler temps with rain.

Yep, pretty much over. Though here it's still hot.

That's funny because we're getting ready to usher in the rainy season here in Oregon so it was a very short summer here. Oh well...it will be back again before we know it!

Being a transplanted northerner, I appreciate the summer stretches out through October as well. I don't appreciate July and August, but I love October and November. I hate wearing shoes, so I'm a happy camper when the sidwalks don't burn my feet.

I'm aching (literally, but that's another story) at the thought of the end of summer, even if it was the hottest darn summer since the dinosaurs all died. The only thing worse than a hot summer is a cold winter, and I dread those fast approaching days. Angie said that you made summertime sound so romantic, and you did because it is more romantic than Christmas and Valentine's put together. I will miss it, too!

I'll be saying that at the end of winter. This has been such a horrendous summer that I can't wait to see it go. I will happily walk barefoot outside in January if I just don't have to spend another 100 degree day in 2011!!

Beautiful pics that bring back the memories of Summer. We still are having some barefoot days and sweet watermelon nights to ease us into fall...which I do adore also! Have a great week!
