"Age-ist". Is that a word?

I always thought it was strange to see some ol' Geezer of a guy driving a hot convertible.  What does HE need with a convertible? (what business was it of mine?)

I also thought it was strange when an "older" couple I know chose to backpack across Europe when they could have EASILY paid to stay in some great hotels.

AND I thought it was strange when my bosses wife (of-a-certain-age) showed up one day wearing neon blue nail polish on her toes.

But - now I get it!!
It took me a long time, but the light has dawned.
"Age has no boundaries".(Yes.  I have been age-ist.)

The guy with the convertible was living his dream of owning a convertible.
The backpacking couple were also doing what they'd always dreamed about.
The blue nail polish?  Maybe not her dream,
but certainly her right to express herself
regardless of her age and my opinion.
My attitude has completely changed.

Now when I see someone doing something or wearing something that seems a little on the "odd side" I want to give them a "THUMBS UP"!

Rock those red glasses, Sally!

Spike up that hair, Dan Rather.

Get that plastic surgery (?), Judge Judy.

The message here is to
"LIVE YOUR DREAM"!
(both the BIG dreams
and
the small ones)

Livin' your dreams?

for you; Do you know?

Do you like your name?

If you could choose your

Party Pooper

On Friday we (me, hubs, and Princess)
boarded the dog,
loaded the car
and took off for Oklahoma.

We were going to make the 6 hr drive
to Tulsa where I would connect
with my oldest daughter and my sister.
Hubs and Princess would stay at
oldest daughters house while
we 3 gals (me, daughter & sister)
drove 2 more hours to
the "Girl's Out Over-Nighter".

Is that even a little bit clear??
Bare with me. . .

On about hour 5 into our drive to Tulsa -

I began to feel like this.

Hubs made an emergency stop along the way
and bought this for me.

We had no spoon
but we did have a straw.
Are you getting the visual here?!

What a BUMMER!
"I'm making an 8 hr drive to a party
and now I'm feelin' sick!".

This was "ME" at the party.
Boo Hoo!
I fell asleep EARLY on the sofa.

They party-ed around me
as I slept in their midst.
I missed all the great girl-talk.
*sniff  *sniff

But alas,
the next morning
I was back to my
old tricks
and ready-to-go!!

You can read about it here
if you missed the post.

Girl's Out Over-Nighter

Girl's Weekend
June 2011

Most of us in this group have been friends a very long time.  We are a Bunko group of friends who at one time or another have been neighbors, attended the same church, had babies, adopted babies, had grandbabies, got married, got "un-married", had surgery, experienced death of a child, experienced death of a parent, moved across town, moved out-of-state, been employed, been unemployed, lost a home to fire, sold a home, bought a home, gained weight, lost weight, married off children, vacationed, party-ed and basically "done life" etc. etc.  No, we've not all personally had all these experiences, but we've each had a variety of these life-experiences and we've survived it all TOGETHER.  What a blessed, happy, goofy, lovely group of friends we are!

The Bunko Group still meets once a month to EAT play Bunko, however they do it minus me, since I'm the one who moved out-of-state.  But we ALL gather once a year for our "over-nighter".

One year we gather on Grand Lake in Oklahoma at Helen's house
and the next year we gather in Louisiana
(at my house).

This is one of my favorite occasions
of each year.

This was our year to meet in Oklahoma.
We always meet on a Friday evening
for dinner at the Hostess' home.
This kicks-off our overnight fun.

We eat.
We sip a little wine.
And we do lots of laughing & talking!

The next day we always take a
shopping trip some place
and "do" lunch.
This year we went to
Sandstone Gardens.
It is pure "eye-candy-Heaven"
for home decorating.

I took some photos to show you -

Have you ever seen so many pretty
things in one place??

Be still my heart.

Mmmmmm.

Beautiful.

This place is JY-NOR-MOUS!
Two stories tall with more "pretties"
than the eye can take in.

It even has a Bistro within it's walls,
cause heaven knows
"Shopping Girls Gotta Eat"!

I am seriously perusing the menu.
Food is no laughing matter.
Obviously!

One of the real "sweet treats" of the weekend was the fact
that I got to spend time with my daughter.
I bet you know her, "Momof3girls"
at Land of Fluff
Can you believe I have this beautiful
red-haired daughter?
NOW,
for the moment I'm sure you've been waiting for.
(drum roll)
Do you want to know what I bought?

This.

AND

This.

Can you find where I put it?
(On the very bottom of this
stand in the Breakfast Room)

All the pretty things I feasted my eyes on
and I basically came home with a
BOWL-OF-FRUIT.

I woulda/could/shoulda
done better.
LOL!!
* * * * * * * * * * * *

Please come visit me tomorrow
when I will tell you the
story within the story,
which explains why I have no
photos of the first night
of our Over-nighter.
I call the post, "Party Pooper".
Till tomorrow . . .

Smooch Patrol

I am a first born.
My Sister is almost 9 yrs younger
than me.  (You notice I always add
the almost.)  Which simply means
that I am waaaay older than her,
BUT every month counts.

By the time I was 16 and old enough
to date she was 8/9ish.
I didn't date a lot, but when I did
Mom would let her stay up till
my curfew, at which time she
(my sister) would position herself
behind the living room drapes
which hung over the picture window
that over looked the porch.

THEN, when the time was just
right for the "Good night Kiss"
she would flip the porch light
on and off several times and
shout "Woo-Whee!".
I was always mortified and
my date was usually startled
mid-pucker.  (maybe that's
why I didn't date a lot)

Anyway,  my Mom encouraged
my sister's behavior and this became
known as "Smooch Patrol".

Time passed, as it always does.

My sister finally grew up and by
the time she began to date
I had married and had
children who loved to spend the
night with Grandma on the weekend.
So when said Sister's date walked
her to the door Grandma taught
my child the "Smooch Patrol" routine.

And to quote some great
poets of our time,
"The Beat goes on".

My Sister married and had a son.
This son grew and loved to spend
the weekend at our house.
So when my former "Smooch Patrol"child
came of dating age
I taught my nephew the technique.
My daughter was HORRIFIED!
*snicker*

Again, time has passed . . .

and now our youngest daughter is
in the living room with her boyfriend.
They are watching a movie on TV.
And yes,
I.Am.On."Smooch Patrol".
I'm in the adjoining room
Blogging my heart out to you
while vigilently listening for any long pauses
in conversation, and taking lots of "peeks"
around the corner
and making unscheduled
'walk throughs' as needed.

"LONG LIVE THE SMOOCH PATROL!"

PLEASE Mr. Postman!

Dear Postal Worker:
Please rush the delivery of my contact lenses
to me ASAP.

Till then I will be wearing a BLUE
contact lens in my right eye.

And a GREEN one in my LEFT
eye.

Long story. . .

I am scaring the neighbors
and small children.
Please hurry!

This.That. And one other thing.

I love these shoes!
(and they are far from being free).
How cute would a 20 something be
rockin' these with a cute pair of jeans?!

This cuff braclet with diamonds
embedded throughout.
Beautiful,
but once again,
NOT FREE!

Swarovski diamond ankle bracelet.
Delicious!!

Now, back to reality . . .
PRICELESS!
I am thankful for my summer sandals
which mold to fit my feet just right.
I'm thankful for my favorite pj's,
the cotton ones I wear each night.

I am thankful for my footstool
and the chair that I like best,
the place where I can park my bones
and label as my "Nest".

I'm thankful for the peace that comes
by knowing winter's passed
and looking forth to sunny days,
"Thank God it's Spring at last!".

Got somethin' you're extra
thankful for today?

Blogger, Blogger, oh-so-fair. . .

What are you wearing right now?

The "Not meant for public viewing" look
is what I've been
going for lately.

And,
now that Oprah is no more,
I don't have to worry that she will
appear with a camera crew
and want to look in my
fridge or my closet
or down my throat, etc. etc.
The pressure is off Girls -
"We can relax!".

Right now I've got on my favorite
too-short-to-be-seen-in-public
khaki shorts.
and a comfortable,
baggy tee shirt.

Sans bra.
Ahh.  Sweet Comfort!

"Blogger, Blogger,
oh-so-fair,
Tell what you're wearing
if you dare. . ."
