I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.

"I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was."  Do you remember this Toby Keith song?  I'm humming it today as I tend to things around the house.

Lil' Mama is sick.
She went to the doctor Friday and he diagnosed her with strep and said she was to stay far away from Haylee Kate for three days.  I understand that.  She's taking her meds and beginning to feel like a person again.

DAY #1
I tended to Haylee Kate with nary a "hic-up" in the day from morning til bedtime.

Day #2
I let a lot of things around the house ride, and spent my time caring for HK.

Day #3
Mister is helping.
I'm still in my pajamas,
and counting the hours till tomorrow morning when Lil' Mama will be freed to take care of HK!
We didn't make it to church.

Yes, it's true, "I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good [one day} as I ever was".  Day two and three?  Not so much.

I love that song....just heard it recently on my favorite country oldies station. You are a good mom and grandmom. Now, go take a nap.

Strep is just miserable - thank goodness for antibiotics!
I had my granddaughter last weekend and told my hubby that it reminded me again of how much work a little one is. She was well taken care of but the house was a mess. :)

Your daughter is really lucky to have family there to help her. I wonder how single parents handle it all alone...it was tough enough with my hubby helping me! Grandkiddos can really wear you out and that makes me realize why having kids when you're young is a good idea! I hope your daughter is feeling better soon and little HK stays healthy too!

I hear you! We gave up doing anything except loving on, playing with the kids, feeding them, and giving baths. And that is just the first day! Here's hoping tomorrow Lil Mama will be able to be with HK. (You have many roles at your house. I think everybody is right - your family is lucky to have you.)

I love that song!!! You are hilarious! I feel the same way....some days I think I just can't do it anymore. Then I go to sleep and feel better. There's a good reason we have children when we are YOUNG!
Good job, Grandma!!!

Hope she's feeling much better soon. That strep is a butt-kicker.

Now I'll have that TK song in my head all day. :)

Oh, the little ones wear us out so quickly! I was feeling bad about being so tired after helping with two of my little grands when I realized I am 30 years older than the mama for goodness sakes!

Remember those days as a young mom when you were lucky if you had time to shower and get dressed? Well, I guess you got a little reminder. How nice you were able to help out - I'd love to have my daughter closer...
