The Name Game

"Einstein"

"Rosie"

"Big Bart"

"Didgit"

"Browser"

I love dogs.
I love dog stories.
I love dog photos.
And I especially love dog names.

I found these cute dog photos online and then "named" them myself.
Fun!

I'd love to hear what your dog's name is.
Or even the most unique, unusual, fun dog name you've heard.
Looking forward to your Comments!

Our dog who passed away in January was named "Broily" He was half rottweiler half malamute Sheep dog. Our current dogs are "Ramses" (Purebred rottweiler), and "Dinah" (Half St. Bernard half Border Collie).

Our precious dog is "Shelby Lou". "Shelby" because both times I was pregnant I just knew it was a girl and that was her name. Well, you know how that turned out. ;) It's my only way to have a Shelby. And "Lou" because, well ... we are southern and all southerners have a middle name and are often referred as such!

We haven't had a dog for a very long time, but a few years ago we had a lab/Chesapeake Bay retriever mix named Barnabus. :) I always wanted a BIG dog named Barnabus and even though we got him as a tiny puppy, he ended up being around 70 pounds at 7 months. Unfortunately we had to find him a new home because not everyone in the house was quite as in love with him as I was...

We do have a cat with an interesting name though. Her name is Bob. (Yes, HER name.;) ) Long story behind that one...

We haven't had a dog for a while, but the last two were German Shepherds named Baron and Harley. Baron was my favorite, he grew up with my children and watched over them. It's interesting to see the names of others dogs!

*commenting on my own blog*LOL

My beloved Cocka-poo dog (who lived to be 15+) was named "Kramer" after the Seinfeld character who had wild, black hair, much like Kramer's coat. Kramer was a rescue pup who was 4 mo old when I got him- he had never been groomed and had wild, black hair.

Princess' pooch is "Boudreaux", who we call "Boudxy" (boo-dee) for short- named for his Louisiana roots.

Our dog came from a shelter and they called him Dodger...we kept that name and it seems to suit him perfectly. They call him "Street Dog" at his doggy day care. He looks a little like Tramp from Lady and the Tramp and was a stray before he went to the shelter.

We have Honey, a Pek a Pom, Riley, a rescue, is a Chineese Crested, Sophie, our other rescue, is a Shizoodle. Rescues make great pets, they really appreciate their home! Honey was not a rescue, she was given to me, she is as sweet as her name! Guess that great minds think alike, I wrote about my dog today! Loved the pics, laughed when I saw Rosie!!!

We have two doxies, one red, Kizzy Lu and one black, Macy Dai. Kizzy Lu took me forever to name, none of us could agree on a name and since she was a gift from my mom, I decided on her name. Macy Dai was born on Thanksgiving and our SIL named her after the parade but changed (obviously) the spelling of "day" and we inherited her at 10 months old from them.

My dog is named Trudy because the little girl who found her and brought her to the humane society had named her, and she was crying because her Mom wouldn't let her keep the dog. So we promised her we would keep the name.

We haven't had a dog in a very long time, but our most beloved ones were named Silas (black Afghan Hound), Chester (1/2 Lab, 1/2 Golden Retriever), and Amos (black miniature poodle). We also had a beagle named Maynard. Apparently we're big into Southern Van-Down-By-The-River names - although none of us has even lived in the south. Curious...

When we got married, the superhero had a big yellow lab named Sam. Our two toy poodles are Jack and Mikey. I guess we always name our dogs people names because we treat them like people! SPOILED!

I'm not much of a dog person, but at one time I did have a little stray we adopted and named Ginger Rogers. Her new best friend was our feline named Cat Benetar.

Aww, how adorable!! Our dog is named Kipper (perhaps we should have named one of our cats that instead haha); she was a puppy rescue. Thank you so much for stopping by, and your sweet words :))

Our family dog we had for 15yrs was named Ferris Buehler after the movie. He was a pound puppy mix of beagle and cocker spaniel. We always called him Ferris the wonder dog because he was so smart, good, and had a funny overbite...now my son who is living with us has a sweet boxer named Eddy. We love that dog. He's the best with the grandkiddos and is so funny to watch. Everyone who meets him falls in love with him.

How fun! My cocker was Prince Dusty Dolittle...dusty for short. Then we had Roscoe P. Coletrain... Then we had a Tracker, for obvious reasons he was tracking rabbits and deer all the time. And we had a Homestead, because he came to our house when he was a pup and took up homesteading. Those were all when my daughter was a kid. Hope you have a great weekend!
until next time... nel

Hi, Thanks for stopping over today.
We have had an Abby, Zack, Lisa, Casey, Maggie and Angel. Now we have our Skye. She is a three year old Cairn Terrier like Toto. Her breed comes from The Isle of Skye in Scotland and that's how I came up with it. Have a nice weekend.

My first dog was named Beetle Bum...after Beetle Bailey (the comic GI). Sarge was always calling him a bum and my father thought that was hysterical. I wanted to name him Elvis. ;-)

When my kids were little, we had a Pom named Murdock. He was named after a character on the TV show The A-Team (which my young son loved). The dog was a little nuts, so the name fit perfectly!

Our dog was named Disco when we got him - because he stood up on his back legs and turned around. Dances the Disco.

We would have called him Stretch because he stretches all the time.

Awww, what a great post. ♥
I love dog names too. I especially love human names for critters.
We have a crazy Chihuahua named Gracie. :> )
I've had a mini Doxie named Hans. Another mini Doxie named Hannah.
Two weeks ago we had to say goodbye to my beloved, 12 year old Boston Terrier named Darla. I miss her so very much. She was the best furbaby I've ever had.
