"Wide Open Spaces..."

"It's all about the journey".
I've heard people say that.
Beautiful words.
I remember a song often sang in
church when I was a child,
"Wouldn't Take Nothin' for the
Journey Now"...
I understand the
sentiment behind the words,
but if you're not a good traveler
then the journey is not something
you enjoy.  Just sayin. . .

I love me some Rascal Flatts,
"Life is a highway, I wanna ride it
All night long."
  Sorry guys,
I don't wanna ride the highway
"all night long", not even with
the likes of you!
I listen to the radio.
I listen to audio books.
I eat.
I play games on my ipad.
I wiggle.
I squirm.
I eat.

I get restless.
I get bored.
Can we all say, "Grumpy Bear"?
I want to arrive - that's when the
fun begins for me.  I'd like to travel
the "beam me up, Scotty" route.
Wouldn't that be great?

I love life and if you're using life
as a metaphor for travel, then it's
all good, but if we're really talkin'
get in the car, or on the plane,
then I would love to fast-forward
through that part, or skip it all together.

Are you a good traveler?
Do you watch the scenery?
Do you sleep?
Do you daydream?
What the heck does one do to entertain
one's self  "on the road"?
I guess I was born before the
days of "self soothing".
I'm more of a Dixie Chick
kind of girl,
"I need wide open spaces...".

We've got lots of roadtrips
planned for the next few months.
I need to find a way to get
into travel mode.
Mister is in for a real treat
with my fine company across
all those miles.

I don't mind the traveling if it were to a VACATION, a relaxing spot that our minds didn't have to work, but all our travel has been for work, seeing family or moving the last 7 years and that is like living out of a suitcase in a small space and that I don't enjoy. Just sayin.

Oh-I am the exact opposite. I LOVE the travel part of a trip. I always drive and MyHero always rides. I love to savor the scenery I am seeing and wonder about the lives of those that live in whatever place I am looking at. The destination is like the little prize at the end of the journey. xo Diana

Good Morning Sweetie...
I love, LOVE traveling. I look for interesting signs along the way, fun things to pull off and see, and I pick up little treasures along the way, rememberances so to speak.

When I fly, I always take something to read, something to create with in my mind. It is all about taking your mind to another place sweetie.

You can do it. At least until someone comes up with a Beam Me Up Scottie.

I will be watching and waiting for travel updates along the way. Have a glorious time sweet one. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

I can't think of anymore things to keep you occupied than you already do.Sounds exciting though,, I guess you'll just have to relax and enjoy the view, I do like the beam me up Scottie method though, that would be my way to travel!

You've got some great times ahead of you, as does your Mister. I've always found road trips to be relaxing, as long as I'm not the one doing all the driving!

When I travel alone - I listen to audio books. I'll tell you a 'secret'.....I get them from the library in the children's section. I discovered such great authors when we homeschooled.

The last trip alone I listened to Gary Paulsen's book about a young boy at the time of the American Revolution. Also a book on the lives of great composers. Monday I leave again and will listen to a book on Thomas Jefferson's children....

It doesn't do any good to 'get your knickers in a wad' as they say. Relax and go with the flow. But then - I am a pretty good traveler so that is probably easier said than done.

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE SAYIN'!

I guess driving is not my favorite mode of traveling unless they don't need me to drive - I fall asleep so easily!! I am horrible at staying up.

If I were rich I would fly first class.

I would if I won the lottery - I'd love to travel all over the world.

Love, sandie

I'm not a good traveler. When we drive somewhere, Terry is the driver and I try to make the best of it by photograhping interesting things along the way. We take special "road music" and take our time. I'm am afraid of flying.. I'm the one looking out the window for a place to land... you never know. I don't like to travel but I love to go... so I put on my big girl pants and just deal with it!

I prefer the car to the plane but if I have to get off the ground I will do it...with a book in hand to pretend that I'm really in a car and not a zillion miles above it! I enjoy the drive since I'm usually the navigator (with a GPS!) and the food provider and camera pic taker. The only thing is my bum does get a bit sore sitting since I'm used to standing 7 or more hours a day at work. But the ending is all worth it!

I don't mind road trips if they can be done in an hour. All our family lives 11 hours away and that is a LLLLOOONNGGG trip! I do all the above, watch the scenery, sleep, talk, listen to music, whine "how much longer" :) I really would like to enjoy the "Journey" better. I'll give it my best shot next time.
Hope your journey's are blessed!

Auto travel just makes me sleepy. I have to work hard to stay awake for my husband, the driver. It's better if there's good scenery to look at, good conversation with my husband (that can be hit or miss - he's a quiet man), or as a last resort, something good to eat!

My husband says I am like one of the kids and always ask when will we be there. After a few hours of us girls complaining he declares the rest of the journey to be complain free. That is when he hits his limit.

We owned a truckin' company for several years. Hubs traveled all over I would go with him a couple times a year. I just don't sit still well. Some might call me a wee bit spastic. Heeehehehe!

My mom and sis live 1145 miles away. We make that trip once or twice a year. NO...it's all I can do to stay in the car!

God bless ya sweetie and have a marvelous kinda day! :o)

Depends on who I am traveling with on whether I am a good traveler. lol
I love to see new places and especially if I can take my time doing it with no time restrictions which does not happen very often.
You will do find with your hubby traveling. New adventures await you and think of all the new blog post you will have for us.

I used to be a terrible car tripper until we got our motorhome! I love traveling now.....I can get up and go to the bathroom anytime or get a snack or make the superhero a cup of coffee......but mostly I love that the passenger seat is a recliner! So I sleep a lot.....stimulating traveling partner I am!

Have fun ......try reading tags, I do like to do that. Some are very interesting! :)

I agree. It depends on who my traveling partner is. If it's my three kids fighting in the back yard I start chanting
"Calgon take me away!" but if it's with my husband it's a blast! Thank you for coming over yesterday. I won't lead you into the wrong bathroom I promise! :)

My necessary travel buddies are books, magazines and a good radio station and lots of good cds.

We subscribe to "Our State" magazine.
There are state related quizzes in the front each month. I save all of these for road trips. My hubby is a brainac so I quiz him.
