RATS!!

I'm linking with some great friends
to ride the Tuesday Train.
"All Aboard!"

RATS!!

I left my car parked at the shopping center
while I went shopping with a friend.
(she drove)

WHEN I RETURNED

My windshield had cracked in the heat of the day.
The car thermometer read *109 (again).
Do you see the crack?

Red Letter Day!

Last Friday, August 26, 2011
was a red letter day for me.
I gained my 200th
FOLLOWER/FRIEND
on this day!!

It did not go unnoticed!

Sincerely, THANK YOU
to each of you who "do life"
with me through my Blog.
I love your comments
and your Blogs.
I count it great joy to be acquainted
with you - something that in most
cases would not be possible
without Blogging.

We are blessed to live in these
"techy times"!

Hello Mudda. Hello Fadda.

I received the following photo and
text to my iphone last week.
(Our youngest son was on a
backpacking adventure vacation
in Costa Rica.)

Mom-
"This is where I'm staying in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica
for $8 a night."

* * * * * * * *
Do you know what this is?
It is a photo of an outdoor, open-air hostel
where you can sleep in a hammock
for $8 a night.

I am happy to report that son is
now safely at home in Atlanta,
where hopefully he is sleeping
indoors, with doors locked.

*sigh of relief*

Crap Shoot!

I have the urge to do some redecorating.
When I decorate it's like rolling the dice -
sometimes I'm lucky and it turns out nicely,
sometimes I totally miss.
It's a crap shoot.

"Oh-how-I-envy-you
Decorating Dynamos
who pen the beautiful home decorating blogs"!

The Master bedroom is my victim project.
  1. Bedroom Suite - Oak, 10 yrs old, (pd a lot for it so it must stay)
  2. Adjoining master bath - "beigy" wall paper, very neutral, non obtrusive pattern
With those facts in mind I am gonna try to marry Shabby Chic with a bit of updated country.  I'm hoping to end up with something that looks comfortable & cozy without looking like the "old" country that was such a trend 15/20 yrs ago.
I've ordered this from Overstock.com.
I felt I needed to stay in the "beige" tones
so it will flow with the adjoining bathroom.
Since we live in the south a quilt is a good
weight for the entire year.

This is gonna be a BIG job.
I'll have to paint the bedroom before
moving on to the decorating part.

I've gathered some great ideas from Blogs
and from Pinterest,
but I'll have to see if I can
implement them.
To decorate, I'm gonna pull the "cinnamon" color
from the quilt, and even use a
tiny bit of the "blue" - I'm not a "blue"
girl but I think I could handle
a little in the mix.

If I show you photos later it will mean
I am pleased with the roll of the dice -

If not. . .
there will be no photos
and I'll just have to leave the bedroom door
SHUT!

"Google" Giggle

I'm jumping on board the Tuesday Train.
This is a first for me.
Whee!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I need to have my hair cut.
I've been trying to get in touch with my beautician, but since she works from her home, sometimes she is hard to reach.  In the meantime I've been looking at some new "do's".  I ran a search, "hairstyles for older women".  And guess whose photo popped up?

JENNIFER ANNISTON.

and

REESE WITHERSPOON

"Older women", huh?
ROFLMBO!!

Honey, it's all a matter of perspective.

Do You Remember?

Do you remember these trendy
aluminum drinking glasses
from the late 1950's?

* * * * *
Somewhere I have a set of these
that my Mom gave to me.
The colors are pretty,
but I don't like to drink
from them.

I had these.
They were very good tupperward products,
IMO.  I used the pitcher for years.

Remember this?

My Mom cashed in her Green Stamps to get
us this Cap Hair Dryer.
My friends loved to come to our
house to use it.

I think it was one of the first electrical|
apparatus's's's's available to help
women get their hair dryed quickly,
rather than having to wear curlers all day
and wait for them to air-dry.

Mister talks about the Fuller Brush Manwho came by selling items door to door,
and while I don't remember him,

I do remember the door-to-door
Encyclopedia salesman.

Do you remember some new-fangled
things that were 'new" when you were
a child or a young woman?

Do Tell.

Pretty in Pink

Princess:  Nice PINK panties, Mom.
Me:  Thank you.  (stutter/stammer, etc.)
(We're having this conversation in the middle
of Walmart, our last stop after going out
for dinner and shopping for 2 hours.)
Yep.  That's me.
The gal strutting her stuff all around town
with her pink granny panties aglow through her
white slacks.
   *sigh

Gee, it's tough being a woman.
You gotta be "ON" all the time.

Letting go.

Have you ever felt the need to
let a friendship go?

As much as I love my friends,
and I DO LOVE MY FRIENDS,
I have one friendship that
really is not working.

I"ve pulled waaaay back,
over the course of a couple of years.
We live in different states so that's not
been terribly hard to do.

I don't want to "discuss" this with her
as I know it would turn to blame, denial,
and finger-pointing.

For a number of years we were "good friends",
but never "best friends".
I'd say we were a "7" on a scale of "10".

Still, she continues to email and sometimes
call my husband, wanting to know "why?".
She even text me last week, again.
We are talking about meeting for lunch
but, I really don't want to.
She manipulates me.
(and she's doing it again)
This is one reason the friendship
has failed.
She's a nice person.
I'm a nice person.
BUT,
time and circumstances have changed
and the things that once knit our
friendship together are gone.
Sad but true.

Have you ever been in a situation
such as this one?

Saturday, August 13, 2011

Do you? Huh? Huh?

Do you know what this is?

It is the NEW version of

*THIS*

Mister pointed this out to me while we were
eating at "Buffalo Wild Wings" last week.
I had never seen the new version before.

Now when I sing,
"Prop Me Up Against the Jukebox When I Die",I'll have a new visual in my head!

Mental Roulette

I'm interested in getting some new living room furniture.
Here's the question,
"Where do you find a sofa if you
are not wanting a brown leather one?".
*There is nothing wrong w/brown leather sofa's,
it's just that's not what I'm looking for.*
There is so very little variety in the
furniture stores now.  I could order
a sofa online but I want to actually
SIT before I buy.

"Why did Renaissance artists seem unusually preoccupied with the naked body?"  Princess is taking Art Appreciation AND Anatomy & Physiology this year and  her lessons are full of what else?  Naked people!  Maybe the artists did their nude works when the weather was HOT and that's what inspired them to paint/sculpt so many nudes. ??   I used to have to sneak around to see this sort of thing when I was a kid, now I'm simply handing my daughter a book full of photos of naked people.  Yes Ma'am, things are certainly different now.

I miss the Dixie Chicks.
Wish they were still recording,
"Wide Open Spaces", and all that sort of stuff...

I just finished reading the tiny book of James (in the Bible).  I'm gonna read it again 'cause I think there's more to "get" than what I absorbed the first time.  I want/need to be more disciplined in reading my Bible.
My Mom has read the Bible through cover to cover
over 50 times.
I find that amazing.
And inspiring.

What are you thinking about today?
