the other "F" word

Let's put on our adult hats and have some intellectual
intercourse.  Shall we?

We all understand that words are powerful.

We all understand that they bring to mind powerful images.

We also understand that often words have more than one meaning,  ie "intercourse".

My family comes from a staunch Southern Baptist upbringing and most of the time our conversation reflects that fact.  However, the other day I made a statement that rendered my husband speechless,  and agasp at my use of the English language.

"What freakin' difference does it make?".

That's what I asked him in reference to something I can't even remember now.

Said Husband then made a not so pleasant
remark about my
"potty mouth".
I stood  officially rebuked.

Whoa there Cowboy!!
I'm beggin' your pardon here.
I think this "freakin" word
has more than one meaning.

I googled said word and yes I must
admit that I found many sites saying
it was a byword of the "F" bomb;
however, I also found that
it was often used as an adverb ,
which was how I was using it.
I used it to show intensity.

I have decided not to use
 "the other F word" as I understand
that I could obviously be misunderstood.
Still, I think we will find that in time
it will be totally unassociated with
the "F bomb".
I remember when we were told that
darn/dang = damn.
shoot =sh _ t

Does anyone besides me remember that?
I also remember when we referred to
a very handsome guy as a "stud".
Most parents who had been raised
on a farm had a hard time with that
word at first too.

I'm just sayin'. . .
And I'll keep my "sayin'" nice.
I promise!
No more "f word" from
this Southern Belles lips.

Any suggesstions?

I CANNOT LOAD IMAGES ONTO MY BLOG.
I AM FRUSTRATED.

(I've been dealing with this for weeks and have reported it,
but still no resolution.)  When it (image editor) does work it is extremely s-l-o-w,
and now it will not work at all.

So much to say, but alas I cannot.
Any ideas/suggestions?

Chicago, as I saw it.

post about Chicago."  I'm gonna answer some

of your questions in this post and show you

some of  what I consider "highlights" of our trip.

Some of you were curious in regards to traveling

by train, especially with a family.

PROS:

Cost is about 1/3 of flying.

Three of us traveled cross-country

roundtrip for $525. total.

Lots of families on the train,

probably because of the value.

You can move about the train.

Children seemed to travel and sleep

well on the train - it has a lulling

effect.

Good view of countryside

from the lounge car.

Basic Coach Seats are large & comfy.

Lots of leg room.

The train was on time both

going & coming.

You can (and should, IMO) bring your own

food/drinks/snacks.

CONS:It seems that adults did not sleep
nearly as well as kids did on the train,
for whatever reason.

Bathrooms are comparable to

those on an airplane = teeny tiny

and sometimes not-so-clean.

Location of seats varies within

the train and you need to board

as early as possible to

sit where you want.

in the city. (according to the tour guide)

He says she calls herself a Chicagan

though she is away from the city

most of the time and only there when

she is recording her program.

We took several tours

and enjoyed each of them.

This was a great way to see the town

and really learn about it.

This building is so large it completely

covers a city block and has it's own

ZIP CODE!!

DARN!I had more to share with you but the photo uploader has quit working.  One of our more daring days had us on a tour bus in the middle of rush hour when it began to rain and the tornado sirens went off.  Obviously it all ended well.  My "take-away" is -
Chicago is a beautiful, clean city.
The people are very friendly.
And, there are many things to do
for young children, kids, and adults.
Great vacation destination!

The BIGGEST Magnolia  Tree

Bath, anyone?

If you lived in the mid 1800's and were wealthy

you could bathe indoors in this luxurious tub,

but only after (and in the same water)

your husband and all children

had been bathed in.

Your children (and you probably would have

had  8 - 12 children; sans birth control)

could attend this local school.

I was quite impressed with this school

which looks better than most any

school in Louisianna today.

(things that make you go "Hmmmmmmmm.")

living;  but on this 95 degree day I was
thankful to get home to my fast-paced
air-conditioned life.

Bucket Garden

My Bucket Garden

This was my little garden last summer.
"Eat your heart out Martha Stewart!"
Yes, it was strange a bit unorthodox and perhaps(Shh! I'm whispering) "a little bit tacky,"but nonetheless it was my experiment and given daily doses of water from
ye old water hose, it in return gave
me these. . .

Beautiful, vine ripe, red tomatoes,
which looked like this.
Half of my yield looked like this.
Darn birds!
They were consistent, sneaking into my
Bucket domain and literally "enjoying
the fruit of my labor". Not to be
outdone I tied streamers to the fence
so they would blow in the wind and
frighten the feathery bandits away.
The streamers blew,
but the pesky birds continued
their heist.

Not to be outdone I dug deep into
my Fall storage and brought out a
Halloween Scarecrow and placed
it in the middle of the group of
buckets. . .But the birds persevered
as the Scarecrow looked on.
Then. . .One evening as I peered from my window,
this is what I saw -

I had been
out-witted, out-played, and out-lasted
by a "wascally wabbit"!

Update:  Let the record show I did not plant a
garden of any type this year.
The rabbits won.
I'll be buying my produce from the
Farmers Market.
Wonder how the Farmers keep the
rabbits out of their Garden?????
