Changing

I'm working today.
I'm workin' on me.

If I'm honest I must admit it is not my nature
to welcome Fall.  I've always considered it
a thief who steals away the Summer sun before
the onset of cold days and long nights.  I have
seen it as a beginning to the end of yet another year.

Deep within, behind my cold heart I know
the cool seasons are God's perfect plan for
the world to rest and refresh before it
begins anew.  Who am I to begrudge
this cosmic shut-down?

I am looking, yes, even hunting, for the
joy of the Fall season.  Here's my best
effort to "change" my attitude  as the
world changes her colors.

Our family celebrates the birth of two
of our very favorites this month -
Our youngest son
and our middle Granddoll.
"Thank you God for these precious
ones who enrich our life
and bring us such happiness."

Fall has it's own yummy scent,
that of newly lit fireplaces
mixed with crisp evening air.

Pumpkins are one of my two
favorite colors!

I have great memories of middle school Hayrides,
and that nervous, excited, awkward
"first kiss"!

In Fall
EVERYONE
is a Crafter. . .

and a fabulous Baker!

And on a purely selfish note,
"ORANGE" is one of my best
colors to wear.
(digging deep here)

And the obvious, which we cannot overlook,
 TV
is at it's very BEST!

Ode to Fall
Fall I do not like thee much,
but no, you actually do not suck.

I greet thee now with eyes brand new
knowing candy comes at the end of you.

I used to LOVE fall, but now that we live in the Pacific NW, it seems like it last FOREVER. However, my favorite part of "right now" is the anticipation of my two favorite holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Loved your post and all the pics.

I love fall because of the crazy spring and summer we have here on our farm...work work work! I look forward to the slow down and rest. The long evenings with a candle lit, a fire in the fireplace on cool nights, a small lamp with just enough light to read by, a good book and a great cup of chamomile tea. How peaceful! OH yeaH! And my birthday!

Great Post !!!

We seem to have skipped fall here in Northern Calif. We went from 100 degrees a week ago to winter rain this week. Yeesh!!

I love fall colors ... when we actually have a fall. :)

Good list on Fall. I feel the same way you do about it stealing Summer, but Fall is so beautiful!

I like Fall (notice the capital letter which connotates importance!). I used to not like it at all; I was like you. But as I'm getting older, and time is getting shorter, I've decided to like almost everything. And it worked. I really love the changing of the seasons now.

PS - I love your poem. You have a flair!

Ahhh You are a poet and don't know it...you can tell by your toes...they are Longfellows!
Loved the poetry of yours, I'm still laughing! I do love Fall but didn't learn to appreciate it until I moved to an area of the country where the leaves actually put on a brilliant display!

Hugs~

I love Fall with all the colors, outdoor fires, apples, and at the end we can all dress up and party and be kiddos for atleast one night! We're not having our usual big Halloween party this year and I'm a bit bummed...maybe next year? But it's also a time when many of my family come and visit and enjoy the fall in our area.

Hello,
I visited your blog today - I saw you on 'Whimsical Musings.' Your blog is so pretty, colorful, and full of life!! Your name 'Sweet Tea' caught my eye because most of the time I end my sentence with 'sweet.' I loved the pumpkins, as they are my favorite color in the Fall. I really liked alot of the sayings that are on here. Me and my daughters started a new blog, and we would love it if you could visit us and follow. I would enjoy coming back to visit with you. Your photos are wonderful, and I am leaving here today with a smile. I hope to hear from you, and have a sweet day.

I love everything about fall except the loss of free time we have in the summer. I don't like the running around all the time. We are mild here all year so I do look forward to cool temps and being done with hot weather.

I think sometimes we have to make ourselves like something - pretend we do - then I think liking will truly follow! sandie

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Fall -- Living in Oklahoma, the relief from heat is wonderful. My bunko group comes to our home every October, fall birthdays, just love having more time to read and enjoy being outdoors more than in the summer. Also, I love lighting tealights every evening & enjoying their fragrance.

OK, good. Loved what you had to say today. Fall - crisp air, ok to decorate with orange and black, birthdays and anniversaries to celebrate. Sweater weather.

Ya know...I love your take on Fall! I actually feel the same way as you. Summer and Spring (a new love of mine) are my favorite however, like you, I am trying to embrace the positives of this season. I love that the "fun" holidays start in this season. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas the most! However, all the yummy treats and foods are at it's best this time of year (but then again, Summer has it's BBQ's! *sigh* Yum!)

BTW...I love pumpkin!! My kitche/family room is a shade of pumpkin (tuscan theme);o)

Even though the weather has NOT changed here in South Texas, I love fall because there are no strings attached.

It is what it is-

I loved your Ode to Fall!

Spring is my favorite season, but fall is a close second. Not blazing hot or freezing cold. The air seems cleaner, the sky bluer, the leaves glorious. I love getting out sweaters and having a fire. Windows open with scented candles burning. Chili and soup, cornbread, biscuits. What's not to love!

I love the colors and I love the smells and always the great apples and carmel coated ones too!
