Wedding venue - A Barn!
I had never even been in a barn before and certainly never to a wedding in a barn. It seems this is quite popular with many young brides We drove one and a half hours to this wedding, going down back roads that weren't even recognized on our GPS or google maps. It was an adventure and I'm still amazed that Mister was able to find it, but he did. Everything went well and I was totally relieved to find the barn was even air conditioned. Everyone was lovely and Miss Haylee Kate held her Mom's hand as they walked in unison down the aisle (bridesmaid & flower girl). Flawless.
Who said this Flower Girl idea wouldn't work??!!

I have never been to a wedding in a barn and how awesome that it was air conditioned. If I could have a do over wedding I would definitely pick a barn setting today! Yes I have been inside a barn many, many years ago.

I've never been to a wedding in a barn. Barn dances, sure. Heck, I helped build our barn, once upon a time. How did that work, though? I mean, wasn't it quite dusty/hay/straw/animals...?
I'm not sure I'd ever get married in one, but I'd love to attend one!
I have been to a wedding in a barn...many years ago my brother and sister-in-law got married in the loft of his friend's barn and held the reception in a honky-tonk bar. It was a beautiful and very fun wedding. The most interesting part was watching the reaction of her parents. Her dad had been the U.S. Secretary of Labor and ambassador to Japan and they were very obviously used to much fancier venues.
I love barns. We have even considered living in a loft above one at one time. And I still would ... if I didn't know there'll be a season of life approaching that climbing stairs/ladders would be an issues. #sigh
I have been in a barn. My husband's brother is a dairy farmer, so I briefly visited the cows as they were getting ready to be milked...Would definitely NOT get married in a barn, hard to believe the smell would just go away. Fine for anyone else though....would attend a wedding in a barn, definitely!
Glad it all went well! Yeah for your sweet Grandbaby! Living where we do I've been in many barns. My in-laws had a lovely one but I wouldn't have wanted a wedding in it! My next door neighbor has a super one and I really covet it...don't let anyone know that! I have noticed how popular the barn wedding theme is and I'm glad yours was air conditioned and I'm assuming it didn't smell like any barn I've been in lately! Ha! Hmmm...maybe I need to get me a barn here at the Pines and start a new business!
No, but I sure do love the idea of it! I've seen them on pinterest and love the look and feel. Did the girls wear cowboy boots?

Can't say I've attended a wedding in a barn, but have been in many and considering we live in the MIDDLE of the midwest, there are probably more barns than houses LOL! (actually not really kidding!) I just say the word "barn" and I can smell cattle and horses, etc etc etc (and my minds eye also sees dust and kitties and cows and horses, buckets and old separators and harnesses and halters) More info than you asked for isn't it?? Glad it was a good time!
The barn venue is definitely gaining in popularity with brides. I've attended a few barn weddings. Most are converted barns, or new constructions designed to look rustic. The most beautiful one I've attended was in the Memphis, TN area. The high-ceilinged barn boasted antler-clustered chandeliers (think Wyoming) and candles in jam jars hanging all around. The chairs were draped in burlap and the flowers were massive armfuls of wild ones. There is a lovely vineyard here in the Charlottesville, VA area called Pippin Hill. I haven't been to a barn wedding.....yet.....but I know they are very popular. I'll bet HK was the prettiest little flower girl ever! But I'll admit I'm always a bit nervous about toddlers in weddings.
Wellll, our daughter's wedding was in the Church but the reception was at a Dairy Farm that has been renovated for the purpose of hosting weddings, receptions and other fun functions! It was a beautiful location, didn't have ANY lingering odors, lol but lots of room for fun and festivities. If you would like to see how it looked check it out on my blog.
