I want to please everyone and have all things right and well. Mister reminds me that it is not my job "to make everyone happy".
I am relieved to be reminded of this.

Oh, how I totally understand this post. I think us as women think it is our 'job' to make everyone happy. There are days when I feel like I cannot go on because I just cannot make every single person happy and be happy myself. You know? My dear friend, I send my love and hugs today! Let's shine today..mmmkay?
I am one of those who tries to make everything happen for everyone and to keep them happy.

Oh, my superhero lectures me on this all the time, especially when it comes to the kids! I wish everyone was happy and i think if they would just do what I say, they would be!!! But, alas, none of them will! So, I've had to give that up and it's a painful cutting away of a lifetime of trying!
I could have written this myself. Dear Heart tells me the same thing. But Bikbik and Roro is right. We will probably continue to do so.
Why we feel the need to do this is beyond me, but it doesn't stop me from doing it anyway. It's hard when we try our best but still end up disappointed. I hope the most important person you please is first yourself...everyone else will just have to take your lead!

I don't know about you... but when I get on my knees in the morning I am asking God to cover and protect my loved ones and friends.. and the rest is in His hands.
I agree with melode-mae. I think we tend to think of it as our job to make everybody happy. I, too, have found that it is not possible. *sigh* And we can get really burned out trying....
I know what you mean. You just want your world and everyone that is in it to be the happiest.
You and I are alike in that respect - we're pleasers. I always feel a little relief when I realize that I can step back and let go of the controls. There are some things that are just beyond my powers (which are considerable) and I really do need to just let go. So good for you that "Mister" can remind you of that.
I really get what you're saying. I wish I could make everyone happy, and sometimes feel guilty for being happy when someone else I know is not. Then I stop and remind myself that I'm not responsible for their happiness.
