SWEET TEA

We've all got one.

Do you think everybody has a story?
I think they do.

I love to hear people's story.
One of my favorite questions to ask
is "how did you meet your husband?".
That's always good for a "story".

I found this little basket full of characters
(10 of them)
as I browsed through Goodwill.
It's not the usual sort of thing
that catches my eye.

Each little person was a cut-out.
(Or maybe a "cut-up". LOL)
They had been stitched up,
stuffed, and had a little embroidery
on each one.

This little girl has a bright red scarf,
rosy cheeks,

and a basket of apples!

This little boy marched to the the
beat of his very own drum.

Look at the buttons on this guys coat,
and his smart hat and tie.
He has a dog,
so he must be a nice sort of fellow.
Shy, and nice.

Check out this dress,
with matching hand muff and hat.
I wonder...

...if she knows this dapper young guy
who's sporting quite the mustache
and dress hat?  I think he looks
like trouble.  Just sayin. . .

I wish I knew the connection
within this group.
Are they characters from
a book, or perhaps the cast of a play?
Is there any connection at all?
I wish I knew their "story".

Speaking of  story,
Tell me, "How'd you meet your husband?".
I'd really like to know.

I remember those characters from the late 70's early 80's maybe. Were they from Our Town?

I met my hubby in Florida. I was a saleswoman for Georgia Pacific and he worked for one of the lumber companies I sold to. I was the first woman sales person in Southern GP's history (there was one other one in the Northern states). I sold him a bill of good and we were married 30 days after we met!;>)

How did YOU meet your hubby? xo Diana

I tried searching my old post for our how we met story. I had to stop because I'm not seeing well after being up all night babysitting our grand dog....brand new puppy. I'm not a happy girl, but we do have a sweet, funny story!

I've never sat down and put our story into words..at least not the portion that involves how we met. The short of it, however, is that we met while working at a local amusement park as high school kids. High school sweethearts we are...almost 16 years and still going strong.

What a unique set of dolls!!

My husband is 5 years older. I knew his brother long before I knew my husband. My husband used to drive his brother to my b-day parties. He finally asked me on a date. I nearly cracked up when he asked for directions to my house. I told him he had driven his brother to my house several times of the years. He had no clue!!
We met at church.

I love that basket of little people. So unusual. I met my hubby when we were both working at a dept. store in college. Best thing I ever did, saying yes when he asked my out on a date.

Such a great find it is not something I would look for but I would have picked them up too.
how I met my husband is a pretty long story but the short version is I was friends with his next door neighbor and worshiped him from afar and met him again years later. We have been married 36 years.

I certainly love the thought of everyone having a story. Sometimes in our lives we get so busy we forget 'from whence we came' and also lack courage to ask others...great thought-PS, I met my husband in my apartment complex :)

I love those figures, but I cant think of where they would come from or the link.
I worked in a hospital laboratory when I met my husband so we worked together for over 18 years. For 10 of those years we were both married to other people but our first marriages collapsed and we got together, the rest as they say is history!

I love your little Thrift Shop people. Right up my alley. My hubs and I met in what some folks might call a bar, but since that sounds so crude, let's say we met at a local "watering hole". I told the girls at work the next day, I just met the man I'm going to marry and 17 months later we did just that. He is still so dreamy.

It's funny how some things just call out to you...like those figures...almost as if they were waiting just for you! I met my hubby on a blind date. I didn't want to go out with anyone at the time because I was working full-time and going to school full-time but to shut up the person doing the matchmaking I said yes. We'll be married 38yrs this Aug.

I had a friend in my childhood and we moved to different towns. Years later I went to her town, phoned her and she said she needed a babysitter. Her husband sent his cousin to pick me up and it was almost love at first sight. We got married when I was 17 and he was 19We have been married 42 years and my childhood friend is still married to my husband's cousin.

So typical - at church. I'd been divorced for several years, and had seen him "around" but never gave him a thought, thinking he was married. I had a friend, Connie, who knew him, and one day my daughter was sitting next to me in church, and LaMar walked in. My daughter nudged me and said "Connie says he's single." So I wangled an introduction from Connie. Turns out my brother had told me all about his divorce years ago (his wife cheated on him - lots of talk about it at the time). So when I realized who he was, I said, "Oh, you're THAT guy!" Luckily, "that guy" has turned out to be perfect for me! We've been married 12 years now.
So how did you meet your husband?

High School Sweethearts. :) He asked me out every single day for 4 weeks and I said, "Ummm, no thank you". He finally wore me down and I told him I'd go out with him once if he promised to stop asking. Yeah, that was 25yrs ago! :) He still doesn't listen to me. LOL (Thank The Lord)

We met at church. He was sitting on the porch steps (a little country church where my daddy was doing a revival) and I fell for him immediately. I went home and told my mama I'd found the man I was going to marry. It was in June 1960. Had our 1st date the Saturday after Thanksgiving, he proposed December 12th, gave me my ring March 11th '61 and we were married 50 years last July 28th! Never been a doubt and more in love than ever!

Those characters definitely have a story to tell. I sure hope you can find out what it is.

I met my J in a place that I didn't think I'd find my happily ever after story....online dating site. He and I are newlyweds but oh how we love one another!

We were HS sweethearts. We went to a small HS but I hadn't really been in classes with him. I knew of him and never gave him any thought until after football season was over he started riding my bus after school and then I noticed him. The teasing and flirting started and still is going strong after 321 years of marriage.

First of all those little stuffed guys are so cute!

Met The Hubby at a friends house at a party March '75. He was supposed to get back with an ex that night but his friends intervened (it was a bad relationship) and thought anything was better than the previous. It was a blind date from a lot of sides and we became inseparable that night and were married that next January '76!

I LOVE hearing people's stories! I actually met my hubby in a bar, but I always told people we met at the fraternity house (for my parents' sakes)! There's more of a story there, but not enough room to tell it in a comment. We knew each other for 8 months when we got married, and we're still married (duh!) after 28 years (if we make it to May!).

I love your little guys (and gals). I bet there is a really awesome story behind them!

My husband was my gay ex-boyfriend's best friend. It's a really funny story! Here it is on my blog:

I LOVED reading the stories! I met my first husband at Teen Town, a little community center that allowed the "teens" to meet up on Saturday nights. We were both 14, and married at 20.

Have a wonderful evening. :)

I met my husband on www.christiancafe.com a little over ten years ago. He lived in Indiana, I lived in Maryland (still do). We got married about a year and a half later. We had a long distance marriage for about 6 months, then he moved to Maryland to be with me.
