Christmas Present/Christmas Past

"Bless this mess, oh Lord, I pray.
Today is present 'wrapping' day."

I actually love to wrap presents;
It's one of my favorite Christmas rituals.
There's just something about bright wrapping paper,
sticky tape, and curly ribbon that brings out
my "Christmas-y" spirit.

"Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh."    —Matthew 2:11

I had intended to end today's post here, then I remembered a previous "wrapping day" several years ago.  I was totally into the process.  I remember it clearly. . .I was wrapping gifts for our neighbors.  I tied the gold ribbon into a big bow and with a flourish reached to snip the ends of the ribbon and
CUT OFF THE TIP OF MY THUMB!!

True story.
Never found the "tip".  LOL|
Made a trip to the ER and left with a hugedressing on my thumb.
The family called me "Nub"
the entire Christmas season!

This scissors are so darn sharp. Not fun, and when its a 'do it to myself' injury it is just so much more nasty.

As you know from a previous post of mine, I can't wrap well. Merry Christmas.

I like to wrap presents too!! It is fun to me and I look forward to it. Maybe it is because when I do wrap presents, most of the stress is gone, the presents have been purchased. It is a relief maybe?

My heart hit my stomach when you wrote about your thumb!

Oh you poor dear! I did something similar but not the whole tip, just a good ole slice almost all the way through. Ouch!

Maybe if I could do a decent job at wrapping, I wouldn't mind it so much!
Wonder who had a little something extra in their present?

I find my family just as sympathetic and kind like that whenever I'm in the injured category! It's nice to know we can rely on them for a laugh anyway...!
I'm about to open my wrapping center myself tomorrow!
Hugs~

Now that I know you are alive and well I can say:

Merry Christmas Nubby. Just kidding - I know it hurts.

So glad you did not do it again.

OUCH. I like to wrap too but I've never cut off my thumb. My daughter was going on and on about how bad her gifts looked. And then she mentioned she hadn't used any ribbon. ??? Poor medical resident's wife and all, I guess. I'll have to gift her with a package of ribbon for the new year.

OUCH!!! I've done that myself. Just not as bad that I had to go to the ER. That actually makes my fingers hurt now...lol!!!!

Yeah, I love wrapping gifts also. I just hate that I wait til the last day to do it...lol! Then my back is in pure agony. This year, I have started early.....TODAY!!!! lol

I loathe wrapping. I love nubs though. Now you look tough and street smart. Cool for you.

You lost the tip of your thumb?! Oh my goodness!! You must've been really into this wrapping thing... I guess you know not to do that again!

Happy wrapping!!

Well, who wrapped the presents THAT year? My sissors are way to dull to ever do any damage! We have the best Christmas wrapper, our middle grandson does the whole dirty job for 10 bucks. I "assist" dispensing tape and we have a grand old time!
