SWEET TEA

Lesson learned.

Saturday the weather was great
and the time was right,
so Mister and I loaded
Boudxy into the car and
headed for the wild unknown.

It was the perfect time for
Boudxy to have a free run
of the wide open spaces.
With camera in hand
we unleashed him for
his romp and prepared to
take some fun photos.

Chaos was soon to follow.
Boudxy ran and ran and ran
and ran and ran . . .
We hollored.
We cajoled.
We promised treats.
We threatened.
He was totally undaunted
and continued AWOL.

He ran beyond the field and found his way to
a subdivion, went through a fence
and ran the streets as I followed far behind.
There was a time he was completely out of sight.
Finally I spotted him again and was able
to trap him between two houses and a fence.
The fun was over
and none of us were happy.

We.Will.Not.Ever.Do.This.Again.
Lesson learned.

No Boudxy,
you can't buy your way out of this one!

Oh- He is so darned cute, the little devil. I know what that is like. We used to have a Smokey-that did the same thing...and not only when we let him loose but when he got free by mistake! Gotta love their personality though! xo Diana

We have to be extremely careful with our dog off lead. She is a bird dog and if she picks up a scent you can forget about getting her attention. Glad you caught your little stinker!

I think it must be a schnauzer thing. We experienced this many times the first few years we had Trudy - I didn't know I could run so fast. :-) Glad you caught him.

Boudxy
Most assuredly liked having the wind in his furs and must have caught the scent of a pretty lassy somewhere. How scary that must have been for you all. I mean who knew a guy with such short legs could run like the devil was chasing him..oh that is right there was a she-devil was chasing and cursing him.

Sorry to lol but I've been there and done that too. Our first family pet was Toto, the mighty mini Doxie. He jumped out of the car window at a stop light near a park (my daughter was holding his collar) but when a Doxie sees a squirrel there is nothing strong enough to hold him. I jumped out of the passenger seat telling my husband to meet me on the otherside of the park. Thank goodness the squirrel had the good sense to run up a tree and that is the only reason I caught Toto.

what a cutey...
how do you pronounce his name?
I've never seen that one.
my peekapoo never would come when i called him...he was very determined...so he lived on a leash outside the house

Is Boudxy a terrier of some kind? Because what the nose smells totally overwhelms their senses and overrides every bribe known to dogs, including the word "cheese." I've seen Tootie take off on her short little legs in helter skelter fashion, nose to the ground. Try catching a rat. I am so glad you were able to corner Boudxy and bring her safely home!

That's why I have kids, instead of a dog. My kids NEVER would behave anything like that in public...

....ooops, my nose is growing....

One of our dogs is the same way. She'll wander off to the park if I don't walk around the yard with her! Glad you were able to catch him!
you would think that they would know how good they've got it, and would come when you called!

He is almost too cute to get mad at, but boy that would have been frustrating. You may have learned a lesson that it will take that little runner a while to catch on to.

that is hysterical... but he is cute...how can you be mad.LOL

LOL, now if he steps his bribes up just a little, he may be able to go out again in this house. HAHA!

There is no amount of money in the world I would accept from my mutts err dogs to let them just roam. They have been known to take off for parts unknown.

On second thought maybe I should take the money and run...

LOL and hugs~

He is super cute! Having even an ounce of terrier in him always makes them run it seems. I have the same with mine. So glad you were able to get him back! Have a great week.

Blessings,
Jill

It is funny - you can trust them 99% of the time, but in that 1% of time - they can be naughty. Trouble is you never know when! sandie
