Today was a marathon shopping day.
Daughter and I headed out the door with our list in hand and I was determined not to come home until I had everything on my list marked off. And, by Golly, we did it, with only one exception, but that's really close enough, so I count today as a huge V-I-C-T-O-R-Y!
Along the way, Daughter asked, "Ya know what part of Christmas I like best?".
"What?" (I'm quick like that, with a witty reply.)
To which she answered, "the days right after Christmas, the ones where we go to movies, play games and eat all the snacks".
I totally agree with her. It's a time when everyone seems to "pause" and bask in the afterglow of the hectic shopping, decorating, and time-consuming "stuff" that is pre-Christmas.
I think we've stumbled across a new family holiday, "Afterglow".
We're not the typical family.
I've recently become Caregiver/Guardian to my Mom as she deals with Dementia. I'm married, have three grown children and also an 18 yr. old daughter who lives at home and recently made us grandparents to her beautiful new baby girl. That means that we have four generations of women under the same roof. Mister and I have been married forever. . .It's not the life we dreamed about, nor the one we would have chosen, but most days we find a way to laugh and bumble our way through. We're enjoying the journey, even with the unexpected side trips along the way. FOLLOW ME, if you dare! LOL!
