SWEET TEA

July 3 1/2

I made a Lemon Drop cake to take to a 4th of July potluck at our friend's home tomorrow.  I've never made this exact recipe before but I figured with all the yummy ingredients it was bound to be good.  I'll let ya' know.  It's not fancy but I'm hoping taste trumps "beauty".

I also made a BIG pasta salad - no photo as it's still in the making.

I've got "Loreal', light brown" marinating on my hair at the moment as I blog and sip me some rum punch.  Yes Ma'am it is a good day!

That said, the house is a little too quiet for my taste.  Lil' Mama, Haylee Kate, and Lil' Daddy left here this morning bound for the lake to visit with his grandparents for the holiday.  I hated to see them "head out" but the grandparents love HK, as well as Lil' Mama, so I'm glad they get to spend some time with them.  It wouldn't be nice for me to be stingy, now would it?

Enough about me - what are you doing for the 4th of July?
I know many people work on the holiday and if you are one of them please know you are appreciated by me, and many others.  Some of you will travel and I pray that angels ride your bumpers (or your wings), whichever may be the case.  If you are enjoying the water please be safe - and remember the sunscreen.  I think of those wonderful people who are serving our great country at this moment.  May God bless you for your service and your sacrifice.  Really.  I pray BIG blessings for them and their families!!

Yum!

I know you'll miss your sweet girls, but I hope they have a good time.

We have absolutely no plans .....it's raining and we have 100% chance of rain tomorrow! :)

We've had two invites and I'm leaning toward the one closer to home. If we do that one we will also be able to go listen to live music after the fireworks.

It will be fun for you to have a party to go to tomorrow....hopefully it will keep you from missing your girls so much. I will be going to a 4th of July party at with my daughter's family at their swim club, and getting myself ready to stay with a 2 & 5 yr old for a week starting on Sunday (mostly mental preparation) :)

I know what you are talking about. Our kids are going to head out next week for a family reunion with the other side of the family. :-( It will be too quiet around here and our kids don't live at our house. Have fun at your party.
So glad your Mom is doing better.
Grandkids will be spending the night with us tomorrow night and we watch fireworks over the lake from our back yard.

Happy 4th. It is hard to "share" our family over the Holidays sometimes, isn't it? Hope your desert, your salad AND your hair ALL turn out just right-lol xo Diana

Hey!
I'm Loreal MEDIUM brown myself!
I hope to make it to light brown in my next decade, and gradually go lighter and I might be blonde by the time I am 80, if I have any hair left. LOL!
Happy 4th to you! We have the rainest 4th in Atlanta I have ever known, who cares, it's cooler!!

Already took my celebratory bike ride and now finishing up baking some yummy banana muffins for the boys in blue (our local firefighters).

If the cake turns out to be a hit, do share the recipe!

Happy Indy Day!

Thanks for the recipe link, I love everything lemon! We are hanging out at home today. We have a view lot so we see fireworks from surrounding towns. Of course we have the hot dogs, chips, cherries and sweet corn too! Happy 4th to you......
