12. One last question dedicated to February love: CS Lewis said, "To love is to be vulnerable." Please share one example of that assertion or share any thought you'd like to about this topic.
What? I thought "love meant never having to say your sorry"? Am I the only one who remembers this movie?
Thanks for stopping by!

Old and New
Behold!
"THE" most comfortable chair
in the entire world.
"THE" most comfortable chair
in the entire world.
This is how it looks
between the hours of
7pm and midnight.
Boo Hoo!
I am allergic to the fabricon "The" most comfortable chair in the world
which is why I must shroud it in a sheet.
Reluctantly I came to realize the time had
come for us to part ways, so the searchbegan and continued on and off for 3 years.
"It is not easy to replace such a chair" -
BUT -
Waa Lah!The NEW chair
in fabric I am not allergic to.
It looks nice, butt, (love the pun) truthfully
it does not "sit" nearly
as good as my old one.
*sniff *sniff
"New" does not always mean better.

Criminal Act-shuns!
edited to add this:
Some of you are asking if this is a true story.
TOTALLY TRUE.
This happened last week and has been
getting lots of play on our local news.
I actually got the photo from
CNN.com today. I'm surprised that
this is not being widely reported
everywhere. . .
This criminal scrawled the following words into her desk:
"I love my friends Abby and Faith.
Lex was here 2/1/10"
Thank God police were quickly on the scene,
handcuffed this offender and took
her to the police station.
Your thoughts?

Second Cup of Coffee Olympic Version
I love this Wednesday "Get-to-know-ya" thang that 2nd Cup of Coffee hosts. Lots of Fun! Feel free to stop by her Blog to link up.
1. If you could compete in one Olympic event (not necessarily winter sports) what would it be?
I'm assuming that talent has nothing to do with this question (BIG assumption).
I would be a Gold Medal Winning Olympic Gymnast, jumping, gyrating and causing everyone to swoon
because I could contort my oh-so-slim-and-toned body into any shape I chose, but my ever-faithful-handsome-boyfriend-who-was-watching-from-the-sidelines would be keeping the adoring crowds at a
distance. "Can you tell I've been day-dreaming during the commercials"???

2. Do remember a specific Olympic moment from the past?
Dorothy Hamil getting the Gold in Gymnastics - and of course her PERKY hair cut!
She did win the GOLD, didn't she?
Before we all wanted Jennifer Aniston and Farrah Fawcet hair, we wanted Dorothy Hamil hair.
3. Have you ever known anyone who competed in the Olympics?
Nope. I don't run with a very athletic crowd, we're more the "sit and eat bon-bons" type.
4. If everyday activities were Olympic-worthy, which activity would you have a gold medal in?
"Creative Shopping" while twirling a flaming baton with a child on my hip.
and eating Bon Bons.
It could happen.
5. Do you know anything about your ethnic heritage?
Greek.
When I found that out I understood my "nose".
6. Do you enjoy sleeping late?
Is this question really worthy of an answer?
Does a dog bark and a cat meow?
'Course I LOVE to sleep late!!
A better question would be, "Define late".
That's not a question. Oops!
7. Have you ever performed CPR on anyone? Do you know how? (Yes, that's two, I know. Whatevs.)
Thank God, "no". Hope I'm never put in that situation.
8. Name one country you'd like to visit and explain why.
"Texas. Cause it's a whole other country".
Remember that commercial?
Greece. Would love to visit the land of "my people".9. Have you ever fixed up a couple romantically?
Yes, but it's been years ago and they're still married after "all these years".
"The New Puppy", Little Golden Book. It's been a while.
I seldom read, except the Bible, and BLOGS!
I'm not real proud of this.
11.
Would you like to give a "Shout Out" to some of your newest Bloggy Friends?
Why yes, I would. Thanks for signing on to "Follow" me around.
"Anything Fits A Naked Man" don'cha LOVE this name!!
"Seasons of My Mind" , an Oklahoma Blogger. Love the home folk!!
"Eternally Distracted" a somewhat mysterious Blogger. Love that!
"Come Sit By My Fire" A Blogger who tells it like it is!! Kudos!
12. What is your favorite meal at your favorite restaurant?
TAMALES, rice and beans; chips and Salsa. Mmmmmmm!
With a Margarita on-the-rocks alongside.
Followed by a splash of "Beano".

"Just Do it"
Today was the day to get my "girls"
checked out once again.
checked out once again.
When I lived in Tulsa, OK I went to a
beautiful medical facility that hadthe entire Mammogram area
professionally decorated in
shades of "pink".
This is the brand new medical
"Pavillion" in NW Louisiana.
Don't you love all the detail they
put into making this a comfortable,
"girly" area to have this important
test run? I particularly enjoyed the
nice art on the wall,
and the beautiful green plant,
as well as the fun reading
material.
Can you say,
"Looks like a prison intake room!"?(Course I'm only guessing what
that would look like; I promise!)
This is ME
modeling the standard issue
paper "modesty" shirt.
And LOOK,
a decorative mirror.
Better.
The entire process took less than an hour.
And the real message is,
regardless of where you have it done,
like the Nike folks tell us, "Just do it".

Old Boyfriends
Got time to talk about "old boyfriends"?
On this night before Valentine's Day I'm reminscing about love's gone by and the memories are sweet, probably because I was fortunate enough to "get it right" when I married my Valentine many years ago. Still, it's fun to look back at the puppy love and crushes that came before that walk down the isle.
Robert J.
We were the talk of Ms. Hemphill's 4th gr class.
In the 6th grade a nice guy,
who I admired from a distance, gave me
a tiny china Tea set
and a BIG Valentine Card.
Thank you, Gary W.
I still remember it
after all these years.
In the 7th grade I had a BIG crush on Lloyd C., but it was not to be, as he only had eyes for Glenda S. Try as I did he could not be swayed. *sniff *sniff Today when we make the drive to Oklahoma to visit family we drive through a small town which bears his name and I always think of him.
at that time. I liked him.
And best of all, HE liked me.
We were a couple till he moved
on to high school and broke my heart.
MANY YEARS later I read in
the newspaper that he had died
in a boating accident. He left
behind a wife and two little girls.
I cried.
A part of my youth died that day,
though I was happily married with
3 young children of my own.
In the 10th grade I fell madly in
"high school love"
with Larry B.
He was a Football player
and the sight of him running
onto the field as the school song played
was enough to light my fire.
We dated a little, but actually had
little in common, but the school
we attended.
The night after I graduated from high school
I had a date with a long time
highschool friend, Johnny C.
He was handsome.
He was kind.
He made me laugh.
I married him 2 years later.
We've been married 40 years
and have 4 children.
It was the best thing I ever did.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S
DAY JOHNNY!
(btw, I know you read
my Blog!)

He was a very handsome 4th grade Scout.

Olympic Opening Ceremony
I loved watching all the proud hard-working athletes marching in to represent their country. And I understand that a LOT of money was spent on this, AND a lot of work goes into making this sort of thing happen.
Albeit, there were some good technical illusions, and some good music, but not enough creativity for such a long ceremony. I love you Canada, but I think you missed it on this one.
What do you think?
Agree of Disagree, you're welcome to comment.
MEGA FUNK
Here we are mid-February, the nights are long and the days are short. It's about this time each year when I slide into a "Mega Funk. (Not to be confused with a "Depressed Funk)
I fall into a lazy, unmotivated type-of-funk.
I'm not proud of this. This is one of those times when the truth does truly hurt. In the summer I am animated, full of energy, going, doing, planning, thriving. Then, in late Fall I begin to slow, and go through the holidays at half speed. THEN, after that the brakes go on and I become someone I don't even know. And, when I look into the mirror I don't even recognize the person (?) who stares back at me.
looks like -
I wear a sloppy tee shirt every day,
sometimes the color changesbut never the style.
Also, a pair of Sweat pants,
usually black, but ocasionally gray.THEN, when it's time to change
into pj's
(immediately after dinner)
into pj's
(immediately after dinner)
I put on yet another tee shirt
At this point I know you're totally "into me" and can't wait to hear what I wear on the rare occasion of leaving my home. Wait no longer. . .
Yep, you guessed it,
yet another Tee. . .but this time I drag out a pair of my
"too tight" jeans and squeezeinto them.
and top it with a cardigan sweater.
(and don't I wish I looked likethe girl in this photo!)
Fashionista?
'Fraid not!
'Fraid not!
and I'm finding my cute capris,
a funky top and a wildly colored
pair of Flip Flops. . .I'm buying
a new shade of lipstick and
slathering on the Tanner.
I am RE-BORN.
What to do about the winter MEGA-FUNK?
I'd love your suggestions!
